'Bama State football player arrested for punching Bragg Stadium security guard

Jacob Freeman
, a wide receiver on the Alabama State University Football team, was booked and released at the Leon County Jail on Saturday night and charged with "battery cause bodily harm."
Freeman was arrested by the FAMU Police Department, according to the booking report.

The arrest occurred after Freeman “sucker punched” a stadium security worker on the ASU’s sideline following their 23-10 loss to the Rattlers Saturday night, before being restrained by his teammates.  A video of the punch has gone
 viral .

Freeman, who initially signed with Georgia State University, out of high school, transferred to Alabama State following last season.  According to the team participation log, Freeman did not participate in Saturday's game.

ASU athletics immediately suspended Freeman indefinitely and removed his picture from the team roster on its webpage.

“We are aware of the incident that occurred last night following our game against Florida A&M University in Tallahassee involving an Alabama State University football student-athlete

We do not condone the actions of the student-athlete, nor are the actions representative of the expectations set forth by the athletic department and our university.

There is zero tolerance for this type of behavior. The student-athlete has been suspended indefinitely from the football program, effective immediately,” ASU Athletics wrote in a statement.
