FAMU is adding  Nursing Informatics, Nursing Leadership and Nursing Education degree options to its Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program, the university announced in late July.  The new programs will begin in January.

The three tracks will be offered entirely online and are being developed in partnership with Wiley's University Services. Wiley is one of the world's leading companies in publishing, education and research that partners with universities to deliver online degree programs.  Its division of University Services provides colleges with textbooks, skill training and clinical placement services.

FAMU will pay Wiley $300,000 to develop and market the new degree tracks.

In September 2021, FAMU and Wiley launched an online Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN to BSN) degree program, as well as an MSN program with tracks in Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner.  Both of those programs are exceeding their initial enrollment goals for the university.

The new programs will help FAMU develop more nurses to address the nationwide nursing shortage.  A new report from McKinsey Group predicts a nationwide nursing shortage that could reach as high as 450,000 by 2025.

In Florida, nurses who earn an MSN have an average salary of $110,490.
