FAMU School of Allied Health Dean Cynthia “Cindy” Hughes-Harris and School of Architecture and Engineering Technology Dean Rodner Wright have both decided to retire at the end of this academic year.

“Cindy and Rodner have been an incredible colleagues and the bedrock of the FAMU student experience,” said FAMU President Larry Robinson. “Their knowledge and insights, have been invaluable. Both have worked tirelessly over the years on behalf of students, and never has it been truer than this academic year. I wish them all the best in their well-deserved retirement.”

Both Hughes-Harris and Wright have a combine 48-years of service to FAMU, and both have at some point served as provost or interim provost.

Wright, a graduate of the University of Cincinnati and Harvard University, was appointed Dean in August 1996.

Harris, a graduate of the University of Illinois at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, succeeded SOAH founding dean Jacquelin Beck in 2002.  Mary Simmons, Ph.D., MPH, director of the Division of Cardiopulmonary Sciences, has been named interim dean.
