Things to Do While Collecting Your Car from The Car Transport Services

Many people think that the most stressful thing during a Car Transport service is pre-shipping and post-shipping stuff. If you’ve picked the safe and reliable car shipping services, there’s certainly no reason to stress yourself out. However, there are a few things that you should keep in mind when your car is being delivered to its final destination.

We’ve discussed the pre-shipping stuff in our previous blog with the help of 10 questions you should keep in mind before shipping your car. In this blog we’ll help you with a few things to do when you pick up your car, or when the car shipping service is delivering it to your agreed-upon location:

1. Know When, Where, and Who

This might sound a bit obvious, but it’s always important to have the details with you regarding when your car is being delivered by the car shipping company, from where you’ll have to pick it up and the contact information of the driver who is transporting the vehicle. If you’re in the middle of a big move, it’s easy to forget about small details like these.

2. Understand The Rates of Car Transport Services
You should understand the rates and the major factors that affect car shipping costs. A reliable Car Transport Services will ensure that the payment process goes smoothly. Either you can pay in advance or agree to pay upon delivery. Different vehicle transport companies may have unique ways of calculating the transportation costs. Make sure that you’re on the same page as the car shipping company when it comes to the price.

3.Give Your Car a Once Over
Last but perhaps the most important thing is to ensure that once it’s your car is delivered, you perform an inspection of your car. Ideally, an official vehicle inspection should be performed with the driver or a car shipping company representative present at the time at delivery. If you drive it away without final inspection and then find that damages have occurred to your car, it’ll be very hard to prove that the damages occurred during the shipment.

So, make sure you take a note of things that you need to know before shipping your car as well as at the time of delivery. As we’ve mentioned that if you’re in the middle of a big move, it’s easy to forget about small details like these.

To help you out in this situation, Ferris Auto transport has made two simplified and standard checklists –
Checklist for Vehicle Pickup – To be referred before shipping your vehicle.
Checklist for Vehicle Delivery – To be referred at the time of your vehicle delivery.

Checklist for Vehicle Pickup Checklist for Vehicle Delivery
Make sure your car is fully prepared for transport. Be in touch with the driver as delivery time comes closer.
Make sure to meet your transporter in time at the agreed-upon location, or assign an authorized representative to release your vehicle. Fix up the location to meet your transporter.
Confirm agreed-upon payment and insurance policies. Check odometer for major discrepancies.
Notify your transporter about any existing mechanical issues. Inspect vehicle for new damage.
Provide the driver with any special instructions like turning off car alarm, clutch gets stuck, etc. Check the undercarriage.
Note the odometer reading. Start the car to check for mechanical issues.
Exchange accurate contact information with the driver. Follow through with the payment agreement.
Verify the driver’s inspection of your existing damage car and read the T&Cs on the Bill of Lading (BOL) before signing. In the case of damage, ensure the new damage is noted on the Bill of Lading (BOL) and begin the claims process immediately.
Ask any last-minute questions. Sign Bill of Lading to complete the transaction.
Provide the driver with one set of all keys needed for the vehicle. Make sure to take the extra set of all keys needed for the vehicle from the driver.
