Dallas-Fort Worth Homes Selling at Above List Price

If you’re in the market for a new home in Dallas-Fort Worth, you may want to prepare to pay more. For much of the year already, homes in the area have sold, on average, about two-percent higher than asking price. In Dallas-Fort Worth, nearly 54-percent of homes sold above list price during the first nine months of 2021. It’s happening despite the fact home prices are also up. In the Dallas area, home prices are up about 25-percent year-over-year. Dallas isn’t alone. The metro is just one of more than two-dozen of the nation’s Largest Metro Areas seeing homes sell for more than the asking price. Homes are seeing the largest bump over list price in the California cities of San Jose and San Francisco, where about 75-percent of homes are selling over list. Back in Texas, it’s becoming more and more common in Austin too, where an estimated 64-percent of home sales are going for above list price. The story is much the same in Houston, where about 35-percent of homes are selling for more than list price, and in San Antonio where’ it’s nearly 46-percent.
