Why Diamond Blades Have Become Increasingly Popular?

We need to know what are Diamond blades and what's the actual need of using the diamond blades. And how the inner structure of this blade helps it in working and for having a longer tool life than other cutting tools.

A diamond blade is a cutting tool with diamond grains fixed on the functional parts of the tool with bonding material or another method. As diamond is the superhard material and as diamond tools having many advantages as compared to the tools made with common abrasives such as corundum and silicon carbide.

Let's know the reasons behind the increasing popularity of diamond blades:

1) Diamond blades are good in cutting tough metals:

Diamond blades usually have a plated surface of softer nickel into which the diamond 'chips' are usually pressed. They are deemed excellent in cutting hard materials such as rocks, ceramics, and hard metals [example, hardened teeth of saw chain] but also softer, and tough materials like copper or mild steel tend to pull the diamond out of the blade. But it has a longer tool life of the metal matrix which is holding up the diamond firmly.

2) Long life of the diamond blade:

Even a low-quality diamond blade under the perfect conditions can last approximately around 12 hours, but with the improper working techniques or by cutting the wrong materials, this could have been reduced by the half or more. On the other hand, few high-quality blades being under standard working conditions have been known to have a life of over around 120 cutting hours.
3)Diamond blades have structural advantages which helps in functioning of it. The diamond blades are made up of two segments
  • Diamond Crystals (Cut):- The diamond which is used is manufactured or synthetic as opposed to being natural. But the manufactured diamond is preferred over the natural diamond because of its key characteristics like crystal shape, size, and the strength which can be closely controlled through the manufacturing process. The ability to have control over the key characteristics of the synthetic diamond allows it for accurate prediction of cutting speed and blade life as well as the consistent repeatability of the process.
  • Bonding System (Wears):- The bond is mainly a mixture of metal powders used in the various combinations to achieve a specific wear rate. The correctly formulated bond which holds the diamond in place, just long enough to get maximum use from the diamond points before exactly releasing the stone and exposing the new portion of diamond. grind letting the operator know that it is the time for a new blade to come by.

4) High accuracy and precision is achieved by the use of the diamond blades and it saves time and money.

5) The outer portion of the diamond is exposed inorder to perform to perform grinding. The metal grid usually supports the diamond to stay in place to perform grinding. The trailing part behind each of the exposed diamond there is a “bond tail” which provides support to the diamond. As the diamond blade starts rotating and the material gets grind by the surface of the diamonds, the material gets cut into fine powders

So, after knowing the structure by which it is made, abilities of cutting and its long tool life we can conclude that why the diamond blades are so popular in the market for the cutting ( grinding ) purposes.
