A Co-Parenting Guide to Creating an Effective Distanced Learning Environment for Children

Parents must establish a suitable routine for children Learning online. They must also make decisions on whether who will supervise their children’s Distanced Learning.

That said, how can co-parents make distanced learning for their children as easy and as effective as possible?

Setting an amicable arrangement

One of the basics of co-parenting is well, cooperation. This is no different when preparing for children’s education arrangements. In this case, it is imperative that co-parents talk to each other. Parents must arrive at an amicable arrangement that benefits all parties, especially the child.

The parent granted with primary custodial responsibility is the one responsible for supervising their children’s education. If parents share custody, the parent assigned during the set schedule is the one responsible.

Arrangements are changeable. There will be situations where a parent may not have the ability to work from home and supervise. Again, for these kinds of scenarios, it is crucial for co-parents to find the best possible arrangement.

Preparing your children’s learning routine

During this unprecedented time, it is important that routines are established for distanced learning. Allow your children to follow a routine as close to the ones they normally follow when attending school. Make sure you give them ample space with little distractions to give them room to focus on their learning.

While time spent learning is important, let your children take breaks every once in a while. This will help them stay focused better in the long run. It is advised that both parties stick to the same routine regardless of where the child stays during their online sessions.

All of the things considered, co-parenting children while setting them up for distanced learning is never an easy feat to overcome. But with constant communication and cooperation between both parents, settling on your ‘new normal’ would surely get easier.
