How can the color of the image be improved?

Color is one of the most significant aspects of a photograph – and of editing as well. Choosing the perfect hue for your shot can provide contrast and make it more appealing. When it comes to Color correction, the most important things to know are saturation and vibrance. Individual hues, on the other hand, can be changed. While this method takes longer, it gives you more control. Changing the saturation of color will reveal how true it is. Increasing the saturation, for example, will make the color red more red. If you reduce it, it will appear to be a subdued pink. When all of the saturation is removed, the colors turn gray.

Create a contrast

Contrast is something I don’t use very frequently, but it’s quite effective for black and white photographs as well as adding drama to color images. The dark colors are darker and the light colors are lighter when the contrast is higher.

It’s as if saturation and exposure had a child, but with a few more complications.

Put Collages to Work

Do you want to take a lot of small steps in one large step? Do you want to include a lot of detail shots? Is it possible to take many photographs of the same item? Make a collage out of it! Making collages with Pixlr, Picasa, or PicMonkey is a breeze! Depending on the collage, you may need to crop your photographs into squares. That can make things a lot easier!

Crop Expertly

According to Tyson Wheatley, a New York City–based photographer with 623,000 Instagram followers (@twheat), “eliminate anything that doesn’t help tell the tale.” Crop the photo so that your topic is in the center for the most graphic effect. This includes if you need to remove background, or if there’s a lot going on in the image, Pei Ketron, a San Francisco–based travel photographer with 802,000 Instagram followers (@pketron), proposes using the photographic rule of thirds: Divide an image into thirds in your mind, then place your topic on the imaginary line that connects two of those pieces. Assume you captured the sun setting over the ocean. Crop the shot such that the horizon line runs along the top edge of the bottom third, leaving the top two-thirds open for sky.

Make Use of Alignment Tools for Precise Positioning

BeFunky has some useful Alignment Tools to make layer placement simple, whether you’re working on a design, photo edit, or collage. Snap Lines, Display Distances, and Guides can all be enabled by clicking the Alignment option in the bottom menu. This allows you to examine the exact distance in pixels between the edges of your layer and the canvas’s boundary, as well as the relationship between your layer and other layers. When your layer is selected, you may use the arrow keys to nudge it in small increments for even more precise alignment. This eliminates all guessing when it comes to design positioning!

You can quickly disable (and re-enable) any of the Alignment tools if you discover that they are disrupting your creative productivity.

Simply go to the bottom menu and select Alignment, then Disable on Snapping, Display Distances, or Guides.
