Bass Guitar Lesson Glasgow

Bass Guitar Lesson Glasgow

Every kid dreams of being the next Jimi Hendrix or the modern Ringo Starr, but how about breaking the mould and aiming to be John Entwistle? The Bass guitar is a tragically underrated instrument especially when you consider the impact it can make in any style of music. Without a bass, the drums are a mess of noise and guitars sound thin. They are a fantastic instrument to be able to play, so Glasgow Music Studios offer bass guitar lessons in Glasgow in order to transform you into the next John Deacon. To help those of you still not sure whether the bass is the right instrument for you, we’ve prepared a small list of arguments as to why a bass guitar is an underrated instrument that you should definitely check out.

The bassist carries a band.

Who wants to be a lead singer or guitarist when you can be the glue that holds the band together? Sure, with many songs and bands, you’ll end up taking somewhat of a backseat to the drums and guitar, but when the bass isn’t there the sound falls apart. They provide the backbone that supports the other instruments. It would all sound very hollow and empty without the ever-present rhythm of a bass guitar.

The bass is the hero of many songs.

Picture Queen’s ‘Another One Bites the Dust’ without the bass? It doesn’t work. The iconic bass line is the main feature of the song. The bassist of Queen, John Deacon, wrote this hit and they were apparently reluctant to release it. That was until Micheal Jackson heard it backstage and convinced them that it would be huge. He also has another popular song that is heavily reliant on the bass. Billie Jean would not be the hit was without its own iconic bass line. A great bass line can make for a fantastic song.

Perfect for extroverted introverts.

Do you desperately want to perform, but don’t want the pressure of performing? The bass guitar is perfect for you. You don’t have to interact with the crowd if you don’t want to, you can stand there a look vaguely intimidating and still be the coolest one in the band. Equally, you still become a frontman if you want to. Paul McCartney certainly didn’t blend into the background when the Beatles performed. Pete Wentz can’t even sing, and he still acts as the face of Fall Out Boy.

Perfect for beginners.

Believe it or not, the bass is actually a fair difficult instrument to truly master. It’s easy to play bass, but hard to play it well. That being said, it’s still a great choice of instrument for those who are new to music. You learn a lot about rhythm and harmony and these are skills that you can take with you throughout your music career. There is a reason that some of the best producers out there started out as bassists.

Great skill to build a career on.

There is an abundance of musicians out there who want to play lead guitar, leading to a need for more bassists. If you are able to play bass well, it puts you in a great position if you want to make music your career. If you learn how to play bass, you can usually learn how to play other instruments with more ease as you’ll have a good grasp of rhythm already. The bass also appears in a variety of music, so you’re not just limited to playing rock sounds.
