Utilize a Sit-Stand Desk at Work for Health Benefits

By now you’ve probably heard about the benefits of using a sit-stand desk at your Computer Workstation. The science is in- sitting behind your desk all day isn’t good for you. Standing all day might not seem practical for the tasks you need to accomplish at work. The “all things in moderation” rule applies here too. Getting yourself a sit-stand desktop for your computer workstation is an investment that will pay for itself many times over.

As soon as you sit down, your body drops its calorie-burning rate to as low as one calorie per minute. Knowing this, it’s easy to see why people are always talking about the importance of being active, taking a walk during your break, and getting outside more. If you can find a way to work in a mere half hour of activity per day, then many of the negative effects of sitting all day can be counteracted. Research has shown that although it’s beneficial to get your half hour of activity all at once, it’s not necessary. This means that taking a ten minute break a few times a day and going on a walk will help to do the trick. Standing throughout the day is important as well. Take a couple of minutes every hour and stand, or better yet, stand while you’re returning phone calls or utilize your sit-stand desk to stand while you browse your emails.

The benefits of a sit-stand desk at your computer workstation are endless and at Applied Ergonomics, we’ve got plenty of options. Visit our online store today and, as always, feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions.
