Under staffing may lead to nursing home abuse or neglect.

While understaffing at a place such as a restaurant can be frustrating, understaffing at a Nursing home can be dangerous and even deadly due to elder neglect.

For example, if someone needs to be attended 3 times a day to ensure their condition is taken care of, and there aren’t enough staff, the elderly person may fall into illness, disease, and even death depending on their condition.

It’s a downright violation of the rights of each of the residents at the nursing homes. Under state law staffing requirements now require enough staff to provide at least 3.5 hours of caretaking per day for each patient.
