3 Steps Required Improving your Express Entry Points

Express Entry is a popular, fast, and easy path to attain Canadian PR Status. The applicants are required to compete against other applicants to receive an invitation to apply. It is greatly important to take all steps to increase your points in Express Entry.

Comprehensive Ranking System points are given to applicants for their work experience, language ability, and age. Scoring more points makes the chances of selection to submit an application for PR better.

Points are given based on profile, and there are simple ways to increase them.

1Reappear for the IELTS

The ideal way to increase point score is to improve your IELTS score. A result in IELTS can give 160 points to the candidate. A Good score in IELTS and post-secondary learning gets 50 points. Fine IELTS combined with three years work experience gets 50 more points.

A candidate should at least obtain Canadian Language Benchmark 7 for eligibility in for Entry in the FSW program, which should be 6.0 in each ability of language in IELTS. When you get CLB 9 in languages, you get 260 points.

You can take IELTS several times and update it in your profile after submitting your profile in the pool.

Immigration Tip: Register for IELTS at an early date and when you do not do well, you get time to reappear prior to submitting your profile.

2 Experience

The Express mode manages all applications for economic streams; the work experience gained helps in calculating the points scored.

Tip: If ineligible for The Express mode, or not having a good score, come to Canada initially as a temporary worker or a student. Experience in Canada opens several options.

Many candidates do not opt for showing the experience in work they have. The system uses NOC related matrix to give points to the aspirants. Selecting the correct NOC code is a simple way to increase the score.

Prove that the NOC code, claimed in your experience of work is accurate. When you receive an ITA for PR you should not misrepresent the experience. Spend time to find if NOC codes mirror your career accurately. If it is confusing consult experts to find the correct code.

3. Spouse

In case of a spouse or common-law partner, three possibilities exist:

Firstly, the spouse or partner can get you more points. If they Retake a test for language or get an educational credential assessment for secondary education, they can boost your points.

Secondly, when you have a high score as a lone applicant your profile is given the scores in a different manner. Based on having a spouse /partner accompanying, and on their profile, you are likely to boost your score when you report them as not-accompanying you.

Thirdly, when your spouse is a strong candidate you must try to calculate the points your spouse is likely to receive on being the main applicant, with (or without) your company with them.

Tip: when you and your spouse/partner are strong, both of you can give a profile to the pool and list each other as accompanying. These steps can double your possibility success.

1. JOB OFFER

When a Canadian employer gives an eligible job offer you get 200 additional points. Look at private job boards and social networking sites and connect with employers in your sphere.

2. PROVINCIAL NOMINATION

On receiving a provincial nomination you score 600 additional points. Provinces operate a nomination program which is aligned with Express Entry, and the candidate has to figure out the ideal programs for eligibility and how to apply for them. Applying for it is a separate and detailed process.

3. STUDY WELL

A short one-year post-secondary certificate program gets many points. When you have one post-secondary degree, it is worth 120 points, and when you take another one-year program, you get 8 points for education. If you have CLB 9, and two years of work experience in Canada you get 50 points for skills transferability and a total of 58 points.
