PM Modi inaugurates various projects in Gujarat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his day in Gujarat from Anand. He inaugurated modern food processing facilities, including Amul’s ultra-modern Chocolate Plant. Development projects worth Rs. 1100 crore have either been inaugurated or their foundation stones have been laid. These projects are associated with the dairy, food processing, agriculture and energy sectors.

Prime Minister hailed Sardar Patel’s vision that laid the foundation stone for the co-operative movement in India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailing the Gujarat model of development that finds its roots in the co-operative model that Sardar Patel Introduced in the state.

Prime Minister was in Anand to inaugurate a state-of-the-art Amul chocolate plant set up with an investment of about Rs. 190 crore. This fully automated Chocolate plant will produce 5 times more than the current capacity. Increased production is likely to translate into a lowering of price for consumers.

Prime Minister Modi said Amul is not only about milk processing, it is an excellent model of empowerment. He said that the world has seen several models of ownership like socialism and capitalism.

But Sardar Patel introduced a third model…one where neither the Government nor industrialists call the shots. It is the people who matter. The unique model of co-operatives.

Prime Minister also launched Mujkuva Solar Energy Cooperative Group created with the assistance of the National Dairy development Board. A group of 11 farmers in Mujkuva are generating solar power for their farms. They will now be able to sell surplus electricity to a power company in the area.

Stressing on innovation and value addition PM said that his govt is focussing programmes like Jan Dhan, Van Dhan and Gobar Dhan…that aim at empowering the poorest of poor. He urged farmers to replicate the model of Mujkuva Solar Energy Cooperative Group.

Prime Minister Modi also inaugurated a take-home ration plant with production capacity of 600 tonnes per day and a ready-to use therapeutic food plant with monthly capacity of 600 tonnes along with the incubation center cum center of excellence in food processing for promoting entrepreneurs and start ups. All these development projects will surely boost the cooperative sector.
