Her Dad Divorced Her Mom And Abandoned Her After Finding Out She Was The Product Of Her Mom’s Affair With Another Man, So When He Recently Tried To Re-Enter Her Life, She Said That She Could Never Love Her Dad Again

Before this 17-year-old girl’s Mother and Father married, her mother had hooked up with her high school sweetheart when she ran into him on the night of her bachelorette party. She always thought her father was her biological father. There was no reason for her to think otherwise.

However, when she was 10, her biological father, the man with whom her mother had a one-night stand before marriage, moved back to their hometown.

The man started working at the same company where her father worked, and her mother started behaving strangely. Even though she was a young child, she could tell something was going on.

Her father also caught onto the sudden change in his wife’s behavior. He noticed the resemblance between her, the girl he’d always thought to be his biological daughter and the man who just started working with him.

So, her father did a DNA test and learned that he wasn’t her biological father after all. Her father was furious and demanded an answer from her mother, who initially refused to tell him anything.

“My dad threatened divorce, and then my mom caved and told the truth. My dad divorced her anyway and had my mom take full custody of me. He also told me that I wasn’t his responsibility since I wasn’t his kid, and to ask my read dad to care for me,” she said.

Unfortunately, her biological father didn’t want to have a relationship with her. Several months after her father and mother divorced, her biological father moved out of town again.

Even though her father has legal visitation, he doesn’t see her. He’s since moved in with a new woman and eventually married her.

“My mom blamed me for my dad divorcing her, so she handed me over to my aunt, who told her to stop using me as an emotional punching bag once she noticed that I was being mistreated,” she explained.

Since she started living with her aunt, she hasn’t communicated much with her mother. In her opinion, her aunt is more of a mother to her than her actual mother.

Her father contacted her not long ago, explaining that he’s been in therapy. He acknowledged that he shouldn’t have projected his resentment about her mother’s affair onto her and added that he hoped to rebuild a relationship with her.

After thinking it over, she felt it was best to agree to meet. She wanted to tell her father in person that she was grateful he understood how awful his behavior was toward her in the past, but she didn’t want to have a relationship with him.

While she wanted to meet in a public place, he was insistent that they talk at his and his wife’s home. She agreed, and his wife wasn’t home then, but it was still uncomfortable. During their conversation, she attempted to tell him as kindly as she could that she didn’t want to welcome him back into her life.

“My dad refused to accept it. He said that we should be a family again, we could leave everything in the past, and that his wife wanted to have me around. He eventually said that he loved me so much and that I shouldn’t keep holding what he did against him since he learned that he was wrong to do so,” he shared.

Because her father repeatedly refused to let her speak, she lost it. She was also furious that he didn’t genuinely say sorry for his past actions, so she bluntly said she “could never love him again” after how he treated her.

Her father was so stunned he went quiet, and she took the opportunity to walk out and drive home. When she explained to her aunt how the conversation with her father went, her aunt empathized.

However, her aunt thought she should say sorry for saying she could never love her father to smooth things over. Her aunt told her that she didn’t have to talk to her father again after she apologized.

A few days have passed since the conversation with her father, who texted her to say that his wife would love to meet her. He never acknowledged her harsh comments, but she’s feeling bad about what she said.

What advice would you give her?
