This Georgia Teen Fled Her Home Around Midnight In January, Wearing Only Pajamas With No Shoes On, And Her Mom Thinks Someone Has To Be Involved In Her Disappearance

16-year-old Hydi Cain lived in Fayetteville, Georgia, with her family and attended Georgia Connections Academy – where she maintained straight As in her classes. But, on January 7, 2024, she fled her home late at night and mysteriously vanished, leaving both her loved ones and investigators perplexed.

That evening, nothing seemed out of the ordinary, according to Hydi’s mother, Sidney Fyffe. She had just been talking to Hydi about the teen’s recent life choices. However, Sidney claimed that the discussion never became an argument.

So, when Hydi said that she was heading to bed just before midnight, Sidney didn’t think anything was wrong.

Well, that was until about 20 minutes later when she could hear screaming coming from her daughter’s room. Apparently, Hydi had been yelling at someone while using her Macbook.

Then, Hydi reportedly grabbed her mother’s car keys and ran out the door– slamming it behind her.

At that point, Sydney realized that Hydi had taken her car keys and tried to get them back. Nonetheless, Hydi just threw the car in reverse and “hit the gas as hard as she could.”

Sydney claimed that she still managed to stop Hydi from leaving in the vehicle. Still, her daughter just jumped out of the car and ran away from their property – wearing just her pajamas with no shoes on.

Hydi has not been seen or heard from since she vanished over two months ago, and her Disappearance is currently classified as a runaway case. Contrary to the classification, though, Sidney is very worried about her daughter’s mental state and thinks someone else may be involved in her daughter’s disappearance.

“Where is my baby? Is she hurt? Is she hungry? Is someone exploiting her? Is she alive?” Sidney asked.

Sidney has since been distributing missing person posters in the community, which state that Hydi vanished after experiencing a “psychotic episode” and she is in “grave danger.”

She also created a GoFundMe, hoping to raise awareness about Hydi’s case while collecting donations to fund search efforts.

“The police are following every lead, but she has not been found, and time is of the essence. In desperation, I hired a private investigator,” Sidney explained.

“Through the generosity of friends, I was able to pay the retainer for the firm’s services, but fees are ongoing as the investigation continues. At this point, I am turning to this kind community to lend aid in bringing my child home. My heart is breaking, and I pray continuously for Hydi’s safe return home.”

The fundraiser has since raised $1,255 and is no longer accepting donations – although there have been no updates posted on the results of the private investigator’s efforts.

At the time of her disappearance, Hydi was five foot one, weighed 130 pounds, and had blonde hair. But, on January 16, the City of Fayetteville Department of Public Safety stated that she may have dyed her hair black following her disappearance.

She was last seen wearing a pair of pajama pants and a sweatshirt and had no shoes on.

If you have any information regarding Hydi’s disappearance or whereabouts, you are urged to contact Detective Lindsey Folger at (770) 460-4243.
