Her Dad Just Got Remarried, But His New Wife Is Only Two Years Older Than Her, And The Age Gap Is Making Her Really Uncomfortable

This woman is 25 years old, and her father, who is 47 years old, just got remarried. But, she is having a really hard time processing her feelings because her dad’s new Wife – named Nadia – is only 27 years old.

“Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy he’s happy!” she clarified.

Nonetheless, she claimed that Nadia is an entirely different story. After all, her new stepmom is only two Years Older than her, and she finds that very strange since Nadia is practically the same age as most of her friends.

On top of that, Nadia has a young son from a past relationship and does not fluently speak English – because, apparently, her stepmom is from another country.

So, her dad just went to visit Nadia abroad and wound up “getting hitched.” And now, he’s been working to move both his new wife and her son to the United States.

“But here’s the thing: I just can’t picture my dad with someone my age. It feels… off,” she admitted.

On the one hand, she realizes that her opinion might seem shallow. Regardless, the large age gap simply makes her feel weird about their marriage.

“Plus, the language barrier and the whole ‘bringing a whole new family dynamic’ thing is making me anxious,” she added.

Not to mention, she hasn’t even actually met her new stepmom yet. So, she knows that she should probably try to just give Nadia a chance before jumping to conclusions.

Regardless, she doesn’t know how to stop feeling so weird about the entire situation.

She does plan to go through with meeting Nadia in order to avoid creating anymore drama or tension.

“And I can tell my dad really cares about her,” she vented, “But the whole thing has me feeling weird.”

So now, she’s been left wondering if feeling uncomfortable about her dad’s new, young wife is really so unreasonable or not.

How would you feel if your parent married someone just a couple of years older than you? Does she have a right to be uneasy or uncomfortable? How do you suggest she handles this situation?
