This 23-year-old woman and her Boyfriend, who is 22, have been dating and living together for over a year now.

“We are really serious about each other and see a long-term future together,” she said.

However, her boyfriend has one sort of quirk – he is extremely frugal. That’s why he regularly collects Empty Beer Cans, which are worth 5 cents each, to cash in at donation sites.

She often joins her boyfriend in these endeavors, too. So, after a recent college party near their house, they drove around together to collect the cans.

During this trip, her boyfriend was able to collect two huge grocery bags worth of cans.

“He took the bags of cans inside the house, leaving some of the loose cans in my trunk,” she recalled.

Then, the following day, she saw a homeless woman in her neighborhood scavenging for cans as well. So, she decided to hand over the remaining Beer Cans from her trunk – about 30 of them – which were worth approximately $1.50.

Well, once she told her boyfriend about how she’d given the rest of the cans away, he was actually livid. In fact, he accused her of giving away some of his property without his consent.

Then, her boyfriend even had the nerve to demand that she refund him $1.50!

“I think this is ridiculous and unwarranted, as they were just cans,” she vented.

Nonetheless, her boyfriend didn’t view the situation the same way and has been angry with her ever since.

To be clear, she claimed that he didn’t grow up in poverty. Rather, her boyfriend’s drive to collect cans stems from the fact that he gets “a lot of satisfaction from small sums of cash.”

That’s why she truly believes the bigger issue here is that her boyfriend is too extremely frugal.

Nonetheless, with so much tension now in their relationship over $1.50, she’s been left wondering if believing that they should just move on and forget about the cans is really so crazy or not.
