He Devastated His Fiancée When He Told Her Over The Weekend That He’s No Longer In Love With Her

This 30-year-old man has been with his fiancée for a decade now, and they have a dog and a House together.

This past Sunday, he told her that he thinks that he’s no longer in love with her and he is having doubts about being with her.

She felt blindsided by his honesty, and his words devastated her. She decided to give him some space for a couple of days and recently arrived back at their house.

They then discussed his feelings, and she pointed out to him that she thinks he’s been battling depression since late Spring/early Summer of this year, and he suspects that she is right.

“I said that I wanted to work on things – I’m going to speak to my doctor, get some bloodwork done, and try and speak to a counselor to work through my own issues because I know my fiancée is an amazing person, and, if it is depression that is causing my indifference towards her, I want to sort it and go back to how we were,” he explained.

But, he says that they have been growing apart for some time now, and their physical life has been terrible even before he started feeling bad in general.

This kind of started when his fiancée began working shifts, and they decided to sleep in different beds.

Since then, he hasn’t felt a desire to be close to his fiancée at all.

“One of the things I said to her on Sunday is that I can’t remember the last time she thought positively of me: I don’t think I make her happy either,” he said.

“I work all the time, I don’t pull my weight around the house, and I’m generally not a happy person. There is very little joy in our relationship, and I can’t help but long for a different life, which makes me feel ashamed.”

“The person I am now is not the person I want to be. I went to a Wedding by myself earlier this year and felt more like myself than I have in a long time, and I can’t help but wonder whether it was her absence that freed me up.”

His fiancée is truly a wonderful human being, and he does not want to hurt her or waste her time either.

That being said, he’s not sure when to know if he should call it quits, and he’s curious if there is a way for them to reignite a spark and make it work.

What advice do you have for him?
