She Called Children’s Services On Her Neighbor After They Dropped Off Their Six Children On Her Doorstep And Left Town, Even After She Said She Couldn’t Babysit

This 29-year-old woman and her husband, 27, currently live in a cul-de-sac. Unfortunately, this means that neighbors live too close to each other, and people get way too involved in one another’s lives.

Immediately after she and her husband moved into their home, she started having problems with one of their neighbors.

Their neighbor allowed her Children to run around outside and didn’t watch them.

Plus she also would persuade neighbors to watch her children for her.

While she usually doesn’t have any hesitations in telling people no, she has even been talked into babysitting her neighbor’s children.

Two days ago, her neighbor came to her house and knocked on the door.

She pretended that she wasn’t at home, but her neighbor repeatedly pounded on the door so forcefully that she thought her mailbox was going to be ripped off the door.

“So, I went to answer. She quickly said a few sentences that I didn’t quite understand and that she would be back on Sunday. She has six children ranging from 6 months to 7 years old. I told her I couldn’t, and she said the black cab was waiting for her. I tried to grab her hand to stop her from leaving. I said I was unable to, and she ran off and got in the cab,” she said.

Understandably, she was furious about this.

Forty minutes later, she sent her neighbor a text message telling her that if she didn’t come back in 10 minutes to pick up her children, she would be calling Children’s Services.

When her neighbor didn’t respond to her text, she called her.

Thankfully, her neighbor answered on the third ring, and she reiterated to her neighbor the same thing she’d told her via text message.

“She tried to tell me it was too late for her to come back as she was out of the city and that if I didn’t want to watch them, I could drop them off at Jennifer’s (the 68-year-old lady with health issues living on the opposite side of me). I repeated that if she wasn’t here in 10 minutes, she could pick them up at the local council if they decided she was a fit enough mother,” she explained.

After this, her neighbor swore at her and said that she didn’t believe she’d do that.

Because it felt like her neighbor was daring her to, she called Children’s Services right after the phone call. Then, she texted her neighbor to let her know that she’d been true to her word.

Her neighbor called her and said that she was halfway to her destination in Blackpool, England and that if she was being honest about calling Children’s Services, she would hurt her.

“So, I sent her a video when Child Services picked them up. The police were there, too, as they said they often tag along for collecting abandoned children in case something criminal has happened, and they asked a lot of questions about the mother. That night, my husband and I had a huge fight. My husband was in foster care, and he said, ‘Right cow, you are,'” she shared.

During their argument, her husband told her that she should have said no right away while standing at the door rather than waiting for more than 40 minutes before calling Children’s Services because that way, their neighbor would have been more able to turn around and pick up her children.

Another idea he had was that she could have refused to answer the door altogether.

Also, he said she could have run after their neighbor with the children and forced them all into the cab with their mother.

In his view, she essentially agreed to babysit by not giving a definitive answer against it. Later, he accused her of causing this chaos purposefully since she had the option of bringing the children over to their neighbor Jennifer’s house.

However, she was uneasy at the idea of leaving the children with another neighbor, and she believed that dropping the children off for a weekend with an older woman completely unannounced was rude. She would have felt horrible doing that.

But in her husband’s opinion, if she’d left the children with Jennifer, it wouldn’t have been her problem anymore–it would have been Jennifer’s and the children’s mother’s issue to sort out.

Her husband added that while the children were with her, they were her responsibility, and whatever happened to them while they were with her would have been on her.

Plus, he shared stories of things that happened to him and others in the foster care system. After their fight, she couldn’t sleep.

The following morning, her husband didn’t say a word to her before he left to go to work. Now, she wonders if she should contact Children’s Services and express that she was making too big of a deal of the situation and that it was just a miscommunication.

She also debated on whether she should do something for the children to get them out of Children’s Services to make things better for them.

What would you have done if you were in her shoes?
