Her In-Laws Offered To Help Her And Her Husband Move But Then Gave Them A Bill Of Expenses Afterward, So She Never Wants To Ask Her In-Laws For Help Ever Again

This 27-year-old woman and her Husband, who is 30, have been together for over three years and got married about a year ago. And for the most part, their relationship has been wonderful.

“He is an only child, which has brought up a couple of issues along the way,” she admitted.

“But nothing we haven’t been able to resolve.”

Then, after they tied the knot, she and her husband moved out of their home state due to both her husband attending grad school and the fact that she received a new job offer.

Unfortunately, though, everything didn’t pan out as perfectly as she had envisioned. Out of nowhere, the office she was working at suddenly closed. And since her husband was nearly finished with grad school, they decided they should just move back home.

At that point, her in-laws got involved and offered to help them move by assisting with packing and driving the truck.

“They are retired and have the time, so we figured we’d take the help,” she explained.

“They stayed with us for close to two weeks, where we paid for everything.”

Anyway, they have since moved back home. But just one week after she and her husband finally got settled in, she was shocked to receive a Bill from her mother-in-law.

Apparently, her mother-in-law wanted her and her husband to pay for all of the expenses that were “incurred” while they helped with the move.

But while she was very upset about the bill, her husband was not even phased.

“They’re retired and on a fixed income, so these expenses weren’t in their budget,” her husband reasoned.

She understood that, too, which is why she agreed to pay her in-laws the amount of money they asked for and just be done with it. However, she still told her husband that she planned to never ask her in-laws for help ever again.

After all, she and her husband did not even ask for assistance in the first place. Instead, they simply volunteered.

“Yet they’re charging me for their gas, hotel for the drive back, and some meals,” she vented.

Regardless, her husband believes that she is just overreacting. So now, she’s unsure if never wanting her in-laws’ help again after what happened is justified or not.

If you offered to help someone out, would you expect payment afterward? Can you understand why her in-laws’ bill really ticked her off? Would you want your in-laws’ help again after something like this or not?
