She Left Her Sister’s Wedding Because Her Sister Claimed She Was Showing Too Much Skin

Not long ago, this 18-year-old woman went to her 39-year-old sister’s wedding. While the wedding was amazing, the ceremony was when the day took a turn for the worse.

For all of her life, she has been a higher weight, and she didn’t want this to be a problem for her sister’s wedding.

At first, it seemed like her sister wasn’t going to cause issues because she asked her if she would be the flower girl.

“It’s usually a child, but she doesn’t have children, and she practically raised me, so, in her eyes, I was her child,” she said.

“I felt honored and cried at the thought that she loved me so much to go through with that because she and her husband are usually very traditional, and her telling me she saw me as her daughter had me extremely emotional.”

Her sister took her to go shopping for a Dress, and her sister even purchased the dress for her, telling her that she adored the dress that they’d picked out.

“The theme was a rose garden, so I got a nice floor length, slightly body-hugging pastel red dress with a slit on the side and a couple of cutouts around my waist, but, again, she picked it out herself,” she explained.

Normally, she doesn’t wear clothes that show off her body that much, and doing so often makes her feel uncomfortable, but her sister really wanted her to wear this dress in particular.

Over the several weeks before the wedding, she asked her sister multiple times if she was still okay with her wearing the dress that they’d chosen. Every single time, her sister assured her that she was still completely happy with the dress she was going to wear.

On the day of her sister’s wedding, she wore the dress with flats because she is 5’7″, and since both her sister and her sister’s husband are on the shorter side, they requested that she not wear high heels so that she didn’t draw any attention away from her sister.

For the first time, she was happy to be all dressed up and for everyone to see her in this dress. She didn’t think she drew too much attention to herself, either.

The wedding guests were asked to wear green dresses and suits, the bridesmaids’ dresses were dark red, and her sister’s traditionally white dress captivated everyone’s attention.

“I was having a good time talking with everyone when my sister pulled me aside and asked me, ‘Are you going to change your dress?’ I looked at her confused and asked what she meant, and she said, ‘I changed my mind on the dress, I don’t like it, and I think you’re showing too much skin,'” she shared.

“I felt hurt, disrespected, and disappointed since she didn’t tell me this, so I reminded her she picked out the dress by hand and for the past weeks told me it was still okay.”

Her sister grew frustrated and repeated that she no longer approved of the dress and wanted her to change into something else because she felt like the dress she was wearing was too revealing.

She noticed that she wasn’t the only one wearing a dress that showed this much skin, but she was the one being singled out.

Since she felt so hurt and like her sister wasn’t respecting her, she said to her sister that she didn’t want to be in the presence of someone who believed her higher weight was a problem, and she didn’t want to continue to be around someone who had no communication skills.

And with that, she left her sister’s wedding, went home, and sobbed for a long time.

Once she left, her sister texted and called her repeatedly in a rage, shaming her for supposedly being a “flake.”

Unfortunately, a lot of their family members took her sister’s side and refused to hear the story from her perspective.

However, the family members who heard her out believed her and took her side in the situation.

She felt like it was hypocritical of her sister to single her out for showing “too much skin” while there were smaller-sized women who were wearing dresses just as revealing as hers. Her sister never told any of those women to change into different dresses.

Plus, her sister didn’t give her another dress that she could have changed into, and since she didn’t know this was going to be an issue, she didn’t have another dress on hand.

Do you think she did the right thing by leaving her sister’s wedding?
