She Got Up And Left Her Own Wedding In Tears After Her Parents Humiliated Her During Their Speech

If you’re married, was there ever a moment during or leading up to your Wedding that embarrassed you?

One woman had to get up and leave her Wedding Reception after her parents humiliated her during their speech.

She’s 26-years-old and recently married her husband. What she thought would be her dream wedding was ruined after her parents displayed a bunch of humiliating childhood photos of her in a video montage against her wishes.

Where she’s from, families really enjoy making video montages with pictures of the bride and groom from childhood to adulthood during a wedding reception.

While the intention is really sweet, she was never thrilled with the idea of a video montage because she’s very insecure about how she used to look when she was younger.

She used to be overweight and was often bullied for her appearance growing up, so she despises many of her childhood pictures.

A few years ago, when she attended her close friend’s wedding with her family, they all sat back and watched her video montage, where her friend’s parents included a few embarrassing pictures.

A week later, she brought up the video montage to her parents and stressed that she would never want to see those kinds of photos of herself at her wedding.

Her dad told her she was being unreasonable and that the video montages make a wedding fun, brushing off her concerns.

“Fast forward to a month ago, before my wedding, I reminded my whole family that I would not tolerate a video displaying embarrassing pictures from my fat teenage years,” she said.

“They could show any other pictures other than those. My parents promised that they would not show those pictures, but [said] that I was being pretty stupid since those were old pictures and people wouldn’t even remember them after the wedding.”

Regardless of her parents’ opinion, she emphasized not wanting any old pictures of herself shown at her wedding.

But when her big day rolled around, her parents ended up disappointing her.

As she sat with her husband at their wedding reception, her parents played their video montage, which displayed a bunch of embarrassing photos of her when she was younger.

There were pictures of her eating junk food and making silly faces, which she hoped no one would ever see. Meanwhile, her husband’s childhood photos were all wholesome and adorable.

“Mine were degrading and disgusting in every way,” she recalled.

“Everyone started laughing. It felt like reviving the trauma from when I was a teenager, and people would laugh at me, so I immediately started crying.”

She tried to brush off the incident in order to sit through her parents’ speech following the video. But then, things got worse.

During the speech, her mom commented that she never thought her “Miss Piggy” would get married.

That was the last straw, and she started breaking down. She had to get up from her seat with tears running down her face and leave her own reception.

“My husband followed me and hugged me while I was crying and screaming non-stop,” she explained.

“I’ve never felt so disrespected before, and I didn’t expect my family to be the ones disrespecting me. After a good ten minutes, my whole family and some of my friends came out from the building, looking for me.”

Instead of apologizing to her, her parents were angry with her for walking out of her reception during their speech and causing a scene. A few more of her relatives sided with her parents, which made her feel even worse.

Her husband defended her and kicked her disrespectful family members out of her wedding reception, and they ended up leaving three hours later. She was never able to get over how upset she was and felt like her wedding night had been ruined.

Should she demand an apology from her parents?
