Can you imagine walking down the aisle during your Wedding, looking out into the crowd of guests, and realizing that your three closest friends weren’t there, even though they attended your bridal shower?

This is exactly what happened to Florida-based dentist Reema Bassoumi (@dr.reemabassoumi), who went viral on TikTok after explaining how she forgot to make sure her best friends were invited to her wedding.

Reema and her fiancé were due to have a small wedding a few years ago since it was amid the COVID-19 pandemic. At the time, Reema was still a student finishing up her last semester of dental school in Pennsylvania, so she was too busy to plan a wedding and left most of the planning up to her sister.

Reema wasn’t interested in wedding planning at all from the start.

“I wasn’t really into the whole thing,” she says in her video.

“I just wanted to do it, to get married and live with my man. Plus, we were students, and we were on a budget.”

Given all the extra stress in her life, Reema’s sister handled every detail of her wedding.

Before her wedding, Reema had a bridal shower, which three of her closest friends attended. At the shower, she told them that she’d be having a small and more intimate wedding, but they were definitely invited to it.

The weeks before her wedding, Reema assumed everything was fine and dandy as her sister and family handled sending out the wedding invitations. She figured her best friends would receive invites, and everyone she wanted to have with her on her special day would be there.

However, she was not present when the wedding invitations were physically sent out.

Reema ended up being incorrect. Her three best friends never received invitations to her wedding and never knew when it was, where it was, or what time it started. Unfortunately, they also never reached out to her to get the details. It was a miscommunication nightmare.

So when her wedding day rolled around, she entered her ceremony and didn’t see her friends.

Reema was very confused and asked her sister where everyone was. Her sister had no idea and had to make rounds during the wedding, looking for specific people.

When Reema realized her friends never showed up to her wedding, she was very disappointed.

“I was like, how could they not show up to my wedding?” recalls Reema.

“I got so mad.”

That night, Reema noticed that one of her friends had posted an Instagram story of her in a coffee shop, which made her even more angry.

She decided to save her confrontation for the next day to avoid getting too heated on her special night.

Reema texted her friends and asked them how they could skip her wedding. They simply responded with, “You didn’t invite us.”

At that moment, Reema realized it was all because she never ensured invitations were sent to them.

Then, her friends explained that they never followed up about her wedding because they knew it would be small and intimate, so they thought she must’ve decided not to invite them in the end.

“My wedding was a hot mess,” says Reema as she laughs at the end of her video.

At least Reema and her friends can laugh about this story now! But in the moment, it must’ve been so stressful.
