He Wanted To Check His Wife’s Browser History After Their Child Ordered A $500 Xbox Without Permission, But She Wouldn’t Hand Over Her Phone And Cleared All Of Her Searches

This man has been married to his Wife for 13 years, and over the course of their entire relationship, he’s never had to snoop through her phone for any reason.

They’ve had various discussions about privacy expectations, and his wife claimed to like having her own privacy.

“Which has always slightly bothered me,” he admitted.

“I always told her everything personal and told her that at any point she has full access to anything on my phone or anything really.”

Plus, his wife already knows all of his passwords, so it’s not like she couldn’t log in if she wanted to.

Regardless, their different views on privacy weren’t a major issue until just the other day– when they both noticed that an expensive purchase had been made on their card.

Apparently, the bill came from the same online store where his wife normally orders their weekly food. But it wasn’t for food; it was for a $500 Minecraft Xbox.

At that point, it was obvious that one of their kids– who are 5 and 8 years old– was behind the large bill. And since that specific site required login information, he and his wife determined that the kids could have only made the purchase on a device that was already logged in.

This limited his kids’ options to either their PC or his wife’s phone.

Now, he checked the PC browser history over the past few days and did not find anything related to the $500 Xbox.

“So then, I asked to check my wife’s phone, which she was holding at the time,” he recalled.

But to his surprise, she wouldn’t hand it over. Instead, his wife took between three and five minutes to finish up “what she was listening to.” Then, she finally gave him her cell.

At that point, he opened up her browser and went to search through her history for any evidence of the Xbox purchase. Yet, as soon as his wife saw him doing that, she took her phone away and got pretty frustrated with him.

Afterward, his wife claimed that she could just figure out the situation on her own.

Anyway, he left for about five minutes and thought his wife was handling it. However, when he returned, he saw his wife’s phone unattended and decided to check the browser history once and for all.

To his surprise, she had completely wiped out all of her past searches.

“I told my wife what she did was really strange, and I didn’t like how it played out,” he explained.

Still, his wife just defended her right to privacy and claimed to feel like the issue had been resolved. She also swore that she only cleared her search history because she realized it had been a long time since she last did that.

He feels like his wife’s behavior was very suspicious, especially how she went from zero to 100 when he went on her phone’s browser.

However, his wife’s a stay-at-home mom, and he works from home– which makes it very hard for him to believe that she is physically cheating on him.

“I don’t suspect her of having any sort of physical relationship with someone else, but it is sus, right?” he vented.

At the same time, with his wife still upset with him, he’s been left wondering whether checking his wife’s phone really did make him the jerk in this situation.

Do you think it’s weird that his wife didn’t want him on her phone? Or are there plenty of other innocent reasons she might’ve preferred privacy at that moment? Do you think he was in the wrong for looking through her phone? Or would you have done the same thing?
