Her Sister-In-Law Keeps Procrastinating When It Comes To Finding Childcare, And She Refuses To Be A Nanny For Her Sister-In-Law’s Baby Anymore

This woman and her husband have been living in a camper with their two kids and three dogs for the past four and a half years. They spend a bunch of time outside, so space really is not an issue.

However, after her sister-in-law had a Baby last October, she and her husband decided to move their camper to her sister-in-law’s property. That way, she could help out and provide childcare.

At the time, her husband was still traveling, so she only saw him once a week. They also got to park their camper on her sister-in-law’s property for free, so she didn’t expect to get paid for the childcare.

But, in March, she began seriously missing her husband. So, she told her sister-in-law that she would be hitting the road again until her son started school this year.

She gave her sister-in-law about a month’s notice, too, and said that her sister-in-law would need to find alternative childcare by April 1– the date she planned to leave.

“My sister-in-law didn’t find childcare until the day before we left,” she recalled.

Still, everything was fine, and she and her husband returned to their hometown just last weekend since her son would be starting school soon.

However, upon arrival, there was apparently a mix-up at the RV park where they were supposed to be staying. This meant that they didn’t have a spot at the park anymore, and they had to reach out to her sister-in-law.

It didn’t seem like a big problem, though, since her sister-in-law claimed they could just park on her property until they could get into the RV park.

“I also asked if I needed to watch the baby or can we just pay rent, and my sister-in-law said, ‘Don’t worry about it!'” she added.

It’s crucial to note that back when she left in April, she told her sister-in-law to get the baby on a daycare waitlist since she would be way too busy to take care of the child if she moved back home.

Yet, she recently found out that her sister-in-law never followed her instructions.

“My sister-in-law had her husband’s sister keep the baby and never found a daycare. And she’s been having issues with the sister taking the baby to strangers’ houses and getting stranded with no gas in 110-degree heat,” she revealed.

After learning about that, she claimed that she would only watch the baby until her sister-in-law found a daycare. At the time, her sister-in-law reassured her that she was searching for daycares immediately, too.

However, that was last week, and it is now becoming crystal clear that her sister-in-law has no intentions of going through with that.

She has already watched the baby multiple days in a row, and her sister-in-law even asked her to keep the baby next week.

What’s even worse is that her sister-in-law claimed she couldn’t find any daycares within her price range. So, she was forced to have an honest chat with her sister-in-law about the options.

“After realizing how hard it was going to be on me with a puppy, toddler, one starting school, and a mobile baby, I told her I couldn’t mentally handle it, and we could discuss rent for the remainder of our time there,” she explained.

Yet, her sister-in-law claimed that she was the “only” childcare option. And she’s just not okay with that.

In fact, she and her husband are actually about to buy a house, and she doesn’t think it’s her problem that her sister-in-law constantly waits to find childcare until the very last minute.

She also doesn’t think it’s fair that she should schedule her house-buying plans around her sister-in-law’s procrastination.

“I’m so fed up with her. I want to leave today and force my sister-in-law to figure it out,” she vented.

“She never looked into childcare costs when pregnant because she always just assumed the stay-at-home sister-in-law would keep the baby.”

Obviously, though, that’s not happening. And ever since her sister-in-law was hit with the reality of modern daycare prices, it’s been causing a strain in their relationship.

So now, she doesn’t know whether refusing to be her sister-in-law’s nanny anymore was justified or if that just made her a jerk.

Why do you think her sister-in-law keeps relying on her for childcare without any remorse? Can you understand why she’s so frustrated? How should she handle this situation?
