Raised in Belleville, Illinois, 26-year-old Kennedy Walton had two younger sisters. And according to Kennedy’s mother, Jacques Dean, she was a stellar big sister.

“She loved her sisters. Kennedy would get in the car and just drive around the city at the drop of a hat. She would take them and listen to loud music, of course,” Jacques said.

“She was an excellent sister. She would come and get them and take them places. She would come over to the house and just spend quality time with them,” agreed Kennedy’s aunt, Marco Dean.

So, while living in St. Louis, Missouri, with her two roommates, Kennedy would often travel home to Belleville– which is about 25 minutes away– to visit her mother and sisters.

However, in March 2022, she strangely vanished after going out with a group of friends, and her family has been left reeling ever since.

It all began at about 12:00 p.m. on March 3, 2022, when Kennedy’s aunt, Gian Slack, picked her up from the Swansea station MetroLink in Swansea, Illinois. Apparently, Kennedy’s car was “down,” and she needed a ride.

Kennedy then traveled back to her aunt’s home before the pair went to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital together to pick up her mother’s car.

Jacques had been in the hospital for a procedure, which was why Kennedy was in town in the first place. She went to help care for her sisters, watching the girls and taking them swimming.

“She also picked me up from the hospital that night, and she was going to stay here at my house,” Jacques recalled.

So, Jacques arrived home at about 9:30 p.m. and went inside to take a shower. She had no clue that Kennedy was going to go out that evening, but Kennedy was reportedly caught on surveillance footage leaving in her mother’s car at about 10:30 p.m.

Still, when Jacques got out of the shower, she assumed her daughter was just upstairs and never realized Kennedy was not home until later that evening when she went to the bathroom and realized her truck was gone.

At about 12:00 a.m., Jacques then texted her daughter to see where she was. At that point, Kennedy claimed she would be on her way home “in a minute.”

That’s why Jacques went to bed afterward. But, at about 2:00 a.m., she woke up again and texted her daughter for a second time. After that message, there was no response from Kennedy.

By the following morning, Kennedy still had not returned home. And according to Jacques, she immediately knew that something was wrong.

“It was a school day for her sisters, so I figured she would be here to take them to school in time,” Jacques explained.

“When she didn’t come and wasn’t answering, that’s when I was like, ‘Okay, something’s not right.'”

Kennedy was also very good about returning phone calls and text messages. So, after Jacques never heard back from her daughter, she reported Kennedy missing to the Belleville Police Department.

After launching an investigation, it was discovered that Kennedy had been captured on camera footage leaving her mother’s home at about 10:30 p.m. in a 2007 white Chevy Tahoe.

And according to Kennedy’s roommates, she was last seen at about 1:00 a.m. March 4, 2022, at Show-Me’s Sports Bar and Grill located in St. Charles, Missouri. That evening, Kennedy reportedly joined her roommate and various other friends for a birthday celebration at the bar.

Investigators then obtained surveillance footage from the bar itself and found that, after Kennedy had dinner and drinks with her friends, she left at approximately 1:10 a.m. She reportedly got up from her seat, walked out of the bar, and headed toward what appeared to be the white Chevrolet Tahoe– which was parked in front of the bar.

According to a Belleville Police Department incident report, it did not look like there was anyone with Kennedy, either.

This finding prompted authorities to interview Kennedy’s friends who were at the bar that evening. And after speaking to one of Kennedy’s male friends, he claimed that he went outside to check on Kennedy after she abruptly got up and exited the bar.

In his statement, Kennedy’s friend said that she “was in her vehicle crying.” Then, once he asked Kennedy what was wrong, she reportedly claimed that “she was going to be fine and nothing was wrong.”

Finally, the friend also alleged that, after leaving the bar in a separate car with other people from the bar, they drove next to Kennedy on the highway until she suddenly sped up and passed his vehicle. And later, once they showed up at Kennedy’s house, she was reportedly seen “pulling away from her residence and leaving.”

This was the last confirmed sighting of Kennedy since she disappeared.

But Kennedy’s mother, Jacques, claimed to have no idea why her daughter was crying. In fact, she claimed Kennedy was “completely fine” the last time they saw each other.

Yet, on March 10, 2022, investigators discovered that Jacques’ car– the white Chevrolet Tahoe that Kennedy had been driving– had been abandoned in St. Louis, just two miles away from her home.

Authorities stated that the responding officer did not see any damage to the vehicle. Additionally, “there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the location.”

Once Jacques looked inside the truck, however, she claimed that several items were missing. In fact, she said that the vehicle had been “completely cleaned out.”

But the Belleville Police Department has not released any further information about the evidence found and confirmed that the investigation is still ongoing. According to authorities, several interviews were conducted in March and May of this year. Kennedy’s DNA was also added to the National Missing Person’s Database.

And as the search for Kennedy continues, her mother, Jacques, is still trying to piece together what happened.

“I don’t see her packing up or just leaving and not saying anything. I think something happened to her,” Jacques said.

“I don’t know if she’s alive or if she’s not. Just know that we love you.”

At the time of her disappearance, Kennedy was five foot ten, weighed 270 pounds, and had black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing black leggings, a black t-shirt, and a black jacket.
