How To Plan And Host An Epic Bachelorette Weekend, Complete With A Simple Checklist

If your best friend has chosen you to be their maid of honor or bridesmaid, you probably feel pretty honored. But, after the initial excitement dies down, you might also become quite overwhelmed and stressed out.

Aside from being there for the bride throughout all stages of the wedding planning process, you will also be expected to plan a bachelorette Party of epic proportions.

And if planning is not your forte, this can be seriously anxiety-inducing.

You don’t have to worry too much, though, because below, we have included a simple checklist to help kickstart the Bachelorette Party planning process and ensure the bride has a stellar time.

1. Check In With The Bride

For some people, surprises are the best. But when it comes to weddings (and bachelorette parties), you would probably rather be safe than sorry.

So, it doesn’t hurt to check in with the bride and the rest of her bridal party to learn about their boundaries and expectations for the celebration.

Find out if the bride is eager to party hard or kick back in a more low-key fashion. Also, determine if the bride and her bridal party are down to travel and if there are any additional guests that should be on the invite list.

Finally, determine if the bride wants things to get wild and how much money everyone plans to dish out during the bachelorette party. This can help inform what location and activities you choose later on.

2. Themes Are Key

Every party is more fun when there is a theme. It’s a simple way to get everyone excited (and looking cohesive). You can also choose a theme that plays into the bride’s interests to really personalize the bachelorette party.

If the bride loves the hit television show “Friends,” for instance, you could do a classic play on the episode titles and make the theme of the celebration “The One Where She Gets Married.”

For dancing, you could go for a fun disco theme. Or, if the bride is a ’90s baby, you can’t go wrong with a nostalgic Y2K theme.

The possibilities are totally endless, and you can go as big or as small with the theme as you want. Just be sure to check with the bride to see if she already has a theme in mind before settling on your idea.

3. Location, Location, Location

Once you have a good idea of the bride and bridal party’s interests, budget, travel preferences, and theme, you can finally pick out a location.

If your group is down to travel abroad and is in the market for a wild bachelorette excursion, visiting Tulum, Mexico, is a perfect spot.

For continental destinations that are still bound to offer a ton of party opportunities, check out Miami, Nashville, and Las Vegas.

Finally, if the bride is more low-key, you can look into trips to Denver, Colorado, or Asheville, North Carolina. There, you will find plenty of hiking trails and beautiful scenic views. There are also plenty of local breweries and bars to sip and relax.

It’s also important to note that bachelorette parties do not always have to involve travel. There are plenty of ways to make hometown celebrations super special, too. If that’s more in line with your plan, you could always look into local Airbnb rentals for a change of scenery that won’t break the bank.

4. Make An Itinerary

Regardless of whether you are planning a bachelorette weekend or a single evening, you will want to have some activities locked and loaded.

After all, you don’t want any bridesmaid– or worse, the bride– to ask the dreaded question, “What do you want to do tonight?”

So, once you settle on a location, type up an itinerary. Find some restaurants, bars, shops, or hikes that you know the group will love. Take into account dietary restrictions when possible and try to cater the activities to the bride’s interests.

Now, the itinerary doesn’t have to be planned down to the minute. In fact, it’s actually better if it’s not– since everyone will need some downtime to recuperate.

But, if you are planning a weekend, block out a morning activity and a nighttime activity for each day. That way, your group will never feel lost about what to do, and they will have plenty of time to rest, relax, and recharge in the afternoon.

5. Party Favors

One way to make your friend’s bachelorette party feel even more special is by getting everyone a keepsake.

You could opt to purchase matching t-shirts or pajamas that are labeled– for instance, “bridesmaid” and “bride.”

Or, depending on the climate, you might buy some adorable themed bathing suits, fuzzy socks, or jackets.

And if you cannot decide on just one item, you can never go wrong with making a little party favor gift basket. Include some items that the group might like to use over the weekend– like face masks or shot glasses– along with a few personalized trinkets to remember the celebration.
