In June Of 2020, She Mysteriously Disappeared From Her 116-Acre Ranch, Leaving Her Phone, Purse, And Truck Behind: Just Two Weeks Prior, She Designated Her Alleged Fiancé As A Beneficiary Of Her Estate

Lydia “Dia” Abrams was born and raised in San Diego, California, where in 1984, she married her husband Clem Abrams and had two children together– Crisara and Clinton.

According to Clinton, his mother was a sweet, kind, and caring person who loved animals and always sought out adventure.

“She liked to go to national parks and hike. She liked to travel,” he told Dateline in an interview earlier this year.

By 2018, though, Clem sadly passed away, and Dia was left to take over the one-hundred-and-sixteen-acre family Ranch located in Mountain Center– about two hours away from San Diego. She reportedly loved the new responsibility, though, because the property was home to two of her favorite interests: animals and nature.

Two years prior, Dia also met her seventy-three-year-old boyfriend Keith, who is the current ranch manager. They hit it off on a dating site, and within about two months of dating, Keith moved in with Dia at the ranch.

According to him, in June 2019, the pair even got engaged while hiking in an area known as “The Butterfly.”

“It’s like a little rock formation. She was the brightest, most energetic individual,” Keith said of Dia.

Dia was also extremely close with one more person in her life: her friend Diana Fedder, whom she met in 2015.

The girlfriends were neighbors living in the small community of Mountain Center together, and Diana claims to have loved Dia from the minute they met.

“She’s, like, awesome. A very strong personality, you know, a little spitfire,” Diana explained.

So, according to Diana and Keith, June 6, 2020, started off like any normal Saturday. In the morning, Diana and Dia texted back and forth about window washers.

Keith, too, says he was with Diana that day. The couple reportedly had lunch at about 2:30 p.m. before Keith left to work on the property. He and Diana were planning to travel to Colorado the following day, so he wanted to get things squared away at home.

Once he finished up outside and returned back to their ranch at 7:30 p.m., though, Dia was nowhere to be found. So, Keith called her, but she never answered.

He claims that he later found Dia’s cell phone on the charger in their bedroom, along with her purse– which was still inside their home.

At that point, Keith thought Dia had just gone to the lower ranch– something she had mentioned she wanted to do earlier in the day.

After he walked outside and saw her truck still in the driveway, though, he became worried– since their property is large and that was the only form of transportation Dia could have taken to get to the lower ranch.

Keith still waited for Dia to arrive home that night, though. And after she did not, he filed a missing person report with the Riverside Sheriff’s Office the following day, June 7.

Clinton claims that he did not hear about his mother’s disappearance from Keith but rather from one of her neighbors. Still, after hearing the news, he immediately drove from San Diego to the ranch on Sunday and watched as a massive search effort was launched for his mother.

“Missing persons came out, homicide came out, there was a dive team,” Clinton recalled.

A three-day search then ensued, consisting of twenty-six people who were mostly friends of Dia’s, looking high and low for her. The group, along with Keith, also brought out Dia’s dogs since they would have recognized her scent.

For over two years, though, Dia’s family has been left without answers about her mysterious disappearance. Clinton just wants to know what happened and has revealed how he believes Keith knows more about his mother’s case than he is letting on. In addition, he does not believe that Keith and his mother were ever actually engaged.

After Keith was asked if he had any involvement with Dia’s disappearance, though, he claimed: “absolutely not.”

Tensions between Keith and Dia’s children also heated up last month after a settlement agreement regarding Dia’s estate was set to be heard in court. The draft settlement was filed in Palm Springs and called for the sale of Dia’s Bonita Vista Ranch, as well as two other properties that she owned.

Proceeds from the sale would first fund a three hundred thousand dollar reward for any information that leads to the discovery of Dia and a conviction in her case. This alone is why Clinton was in favor of the agreement in the first place.

“I am really hopeful that it will lead to a break in the case,” he said in an interview with CBS8.

If the sixty-five-year-old is not found within the next three years, though, then Dia will be declared dead. At that point, the agreement would call for a fifty-fifty split of her liquidated estate.

Fifty percent of the funds would go to her children, Crisara and Clinton. Then, the other fifty percent would go to Keith.

It also came to light that just two weeks before Dia went missing, she signed a trust document designating Keith as a co-trustee and beneficiary of her estate– something Dia’s children have petitioned against in court.

In 2021, Clinton and Crisara went to probate court and filed a petition in hopes of having Keith removed as a trustee. They alleged that Keith was still a suspect in their mother’s case.

Keith vehemently denied the allegations, though, and alleged that Clinton was also a suspect in Dia’s disappearance as well.

Keith has since launched a website advertising the ranch as a wedding venue, and additional court records claim that he is planning to roll out construction work on the property.

“[Keith] Harper is planning to make permanent changes to the real property by pouring cement for an RV park [and has] continued to unilaterally and brazenly use the ranch for his own benefit,” a settlement motion said.

Dia’s children and Keith did all approve a “term sheet” back in August, according to the motion document. However, Keith’s attorney passed away unexpectedly in September, so the final settlement agreement was never signed by all involved parties.

In turn, Keith has now opted to represent himself in court. And if the agreement is approved, then an independent trustee will be instated to immediately liquidate Dia’s estate.

The search for Dia has not stopped, though, and if the mother is found alive after her estate is liquidated, she is entitled to receive all of the funds from the estate sale.

Dia is five foot six, weighs one hundred and thirty-five pounds, and has blonde hair and blue eyes. She would be sixty-eight years old today.
