She Found Out Her College Dorm Room Was Haunted Because The Students Who Lived There The Year Before Accidentally Used An Ouija Board To Attract A Malevolent Spirit

In September 2018, this young woman excitedly embarked on her freshman year of college.

She attended a university in Mississippi and moved into a newly renovated Dorm building that was formerly used as a seminary school. In other words, a place where men would get their religious education if they wanted to become priests.

The seminary school originally went up during the early 1800s, and after it closed down, her college purchased the property during the 1990s. Then, the building was renovated and opened as on-campus housing specifically for fine arts students during the early 2000s.

“The dorm hall was one of three buildings on the campus. The building’s first floor held classes and the dining hall, and the second and third floor were the dorm rooms,” she recalled.

And honestly, this setup made her commute to and from class a total breeze. I mean, imagine rolling out of bed in the morning and only needing to take a short elevator ride to your 8:00 a.m. class. What a plus!

She was also really happy with her actual dorm room arrangement since she was given a suite. So, she had three suitemates– with each pair sharing their own room. And the suite also had a living room, kitchenette, and bathroom.

Basically, she was totally equipped with everything she needed and did not have to worry about those pesky communal bathroom lines. I definitely would have appreciated getting that perk as a freshman at my school.

After actually moving into her dorm suite, though, all of the perks did not remain so bright and shiny. Instead, she actually started witnessing some really strange events that, over time, really freaked her out.

It all began with her room decor, which would randomly fall off the wall. Both she and her Roommates would all use the same command strips, and no one else ever had any issues. But, much of her decor– and specifically the wooden cross that she hung near her closet– would always randomly fall down.

Then, she started to hear running throughout her suite and the fridge door slamming shut right outside her room. The creepy part, though, was that she thought all of her roommates were in class when the noises would happen.

On top of that, she would take naps and wake up to her bedroom door wide open– which was totally bizarre because she would make a point to shut it before going to sleep. Plus, whoever opened it would have needed a key card to get in.

Still, she did not want to freak herself out and tried to explain away these weird incidents.

“Each of these, I rationalized. I heard the fridge slamming because one of my roommates came up from class to grab food and a drink and needed to get back. Both of my suitemates were dancers, so this did not seem too far-fetched,” she explained.

“I also got the faulty command strips from the bunch, etc.”

But then, during her second week of school, her entire mindset changed. The switch came after one of her suitemates thought it would be helpful to post their class schedules on the fridge. That way, everyone would be able to coordinate and know when people would be out of the room.

It was at that moment, though, that she realized she had been hearing running and the fridge slamming shut when she was the only person home. She even asked her roommates to confirm and learned that no one had been the culprit behind the weird noises.

And afterward, that realization sent off a week-long streak of terrible panic attacks for her. She would wake up in the middle of the night, around 3:00 a.m., feeling like someone was literally pushing on her chest. And she could not move or breathe.

“One of the nights, the last, was so bad that once I was able to move, I ran to the bathroom and sat under cold water,” she said.

“I also called my mom, bawling. Not the kind of call she thought she was going to get from her college freshman at 3:00 a.m..”

The day after her emotional call to her mom, her roommate also approached her with a weird story. Apparently, her roommate had overheard another student asking who had moved into their dorm room number. That student also claimed they wanted to talk to her and her roommates.

Then, about an hour later, a petite girl showed up at her dorm room and started asking suspicious questions. More specifically, the girl asked if she and her roommates had been experiencing anything weird while staring directly at her.

Of course, she said yes. And then, the student revealed that the year before she moved in, some freaky stuff went down in her form room.

Apparently, the group of people who had lived in her room the year prior decided to use an Ouija board. And in the process, those students accidentally drew a malevolent spirit into the room.

“She explained that she was in touch with the spirit realm and didn’t think the entity was still there. But, its energy remained along with some others that were drawn to it– one of those energies being a woman,” she detailed.

However, the student began looking pointedly at her again after that and asking if the entity had been picking on her. So, she was forced to explain everything– all of the running, fridge slamming, and panic attacks.

And apparently, the student claimed that they could tell. They believed that she had very bright and light energy that the entity was drawn to.

Shockingly, though, the student then also revealed that they sensed another energy in the room– one that was more protective. So, the student asked if she had any loved ones pass away recently who might have wanted to shelter her from harm.

“I immediately responded yes, as I have had many family and friends pass over my lifetime. But what she asked next gave me chills,” she recalled.

“She proceeded to ask with her head cocked if my relative’s name was John. My grandpa John passed shortly after I was born. I barely knew him, and there was no way she could have known his name.”

She was understandably stunned after that. However, the student went on to explain how she should not worry too much because her grandpa’s energy was just there to protect her.

And after the student left, she and her roommates decided to turn the entire situation into a kind of joke and gave the female ghost a name– Avery. This made the creepiness a bit easier to cope with, and the group ended up naming Avery an honorary roommate to lighten the situation.

Anyway, later that same week, she and her roommate were sitting in their beds when a mirror of hers fell off the wall again. And she started to get frustrated that only her items were ever getting damaged, so she decided to jokingly yell, “Damnit, Avery!”

At that exact moment, though, her wooden cross flew off the wall again. Plus, after she went to go pick up the cross, she realized that there was no way a faulty command strip could have been the reason it fell.

“I noticed the command hook was still on the wall– meaning that my cross could not have just fallen off. It would have had to have been lifted off the hook in order to fall,” she revealed. How unsettling.

Obviously, she and her roommate were totally spooked by that. But they just erupted into nervous laughter in an attempt to shake off the creeps.

Weirdly, though, nothing else happened around the dorm room following that last incident. In fact, it was actually not until the next semester that one of her roommates even made a passing comment about how they had not heard from Avery in a while.

Not so coincidently, though, the next morning, she and her roommates would hear from– or rather see– Avery one last terrifying time.

While she was heading out for class early that day, she passed by one of the mirrors in her dorm room. And in the reflection, she saw a pale, black-haired woman wearing a white nightgown standing right behind her shoulder.

As most would, she bolted out of her dorm immediately after that and did not look back.

But then, after talking to her roommates later, she realized that everyone had the same exact experience.

Apparently, the realization unfolded when one roommate said, “Oh, by the way, I saw Avery today.”

Then, the entire room went silent before every roommate contributed an “I did, too” or “Me too.”

However, after each of them spotted the mysterious woman in the mirror, they never encountered Avery again. She and her roommates ended up moving out in the Spring and would later conclude that Avery appearing like that was the entity’s way of saying goodbye.

“I will always wonder, though, if the students who moved in after my roommates and I ever experienced the same thing.”

If you had lived in this dorm room, would you have been okay with all of this paranormal activity going on? Do you think you would be able to cope, or would you have to move out immediately? Who do you think “Avery” was?
