This woman has a nephew who is a rainbow baby– otherwise known as a child born after a miscarriage, stillbirth, or death. So, after her sister had a lot of trouble conceiving, her nephew being born was practically a miracle.

“My sister was forty-two when she finally managed to give birth. She was on bed rest for the last three months of her pregnancy,” she recalled.

And since recovering, her sister has been thriving. However, now that her nephew is six years old, he is apparently an absolute monster.

Her nephew throws full-blown tantrums whenever he does not get what he wants, screams whenever he loses a friendly game, and refuses to listen when told that he cannot ride her seven-year-old dog. Yikes.

But what really irks her the most about her nephew is the fact that he thinks he is entitled to everyone’s food.

For context, she has a husband who is diabetic. At the same time, though, her husband also adores cookies.

So, she went out of her way and found a bakery that apparently makes delicious sugar-free cookies. And even though they are pretty expensive, she makes room in her budget each week to splurge on the treats. After all, she believes that her husband deserves it after working hard every day.

Anyway, her sister recently visited her house and brought her nephew along. And from the start, he was apparently acting like a little terror.

“My nephew was running around like a squirrel. Then, he tripped and started crying, so my sister picked him up,” she said.

Then, it was at that moment that her nephew spotted the special cookie container on the counter. Of course, he began asking for some, but she told her nephew no and explained how they were reserved for her husband– his uncle.

She also offered her nephew other regular cookies and fruit as a consolation. If you could not have guessed it, though, he was not amused.

“He got all upset that he was being denied. Then, my sister asked if he could please just have a cookie. So, I relented and gave him one,” she explained.

What happened afterward was like a slap in the face, though– because her nephew took one bite, said it was “yucky,” and smashed the expensive little cookie on the ground.

Still, she did not let it ruin the afternoon, and everything continued to be fine. Well, that was until her nephew returned to the kitchen a short while later to ask for another sugar-free cookie.

So again, she told her nephew no, but her sister pushed her to give in. However, she held her ground and told her nephew that since he had totally wasted the last cookie, he could not have another.

This did result in another screaming tantrum, but she refused to cave. And finally, her nephew eventually left it alone.

Well, only for a little while– and when her nephew came back a third time, he did not even ask for a cookie. Instead, he actually just marched right up to the cookie container and tried to grab a treat by himself.

So, in that second, she decided to use a training tactic that is typically reserved for pets.

“I grabbed the spray bottle I use to keep my cat off the counter, gave him a couple of squits, and said, ‘NO.’ He got startled and ran away,” she revealed.

And once that ingenious trick worked, she was pretty pleased. Her sister, on the other hand, was actually furious.

In fact, her sister claimed that her nephew was not an animal and did not deserve to be reprimanded with water. Then, her sister even called their parents afterward to tattle on her.

So now, her parents are appalled that she would treat her nephew like that instead of just giving him a cookie, and she has been left wondering if refusing to entertain her nephew’s defiant behavior actually makes her a jerk.
