An 18-year-old girl sadly lost her mom 7 years ago, and after her mom died, her mom left her half of their family home.

Her 45-year-old dad owns the other half of this House, and in 1 year, when she moves away to go to college, her dad wants to move his 39-year-old fiancée, her 14-year-old daughter, and their dog in.

The house that she and her dad live in has 3 separate floors. Her own room is located on the second story of the home, and she picked that out because it has a ton of natural light and windows.

“I was also able to make it so that not only it could become my safe haven but my cat’s (6f) as well,” she explained.

“The third floor has an independent bathroom, is separated into a room with only one window and another one that could work as a sort of game room or office with a little nook on the side that we padded.”

“I assumed that my Stepsister would be moving there since it’s bigger, she would have her own bathroom, and that nook is perfect for their dog, who likes small places much more than my cat.”

Lately, she has been packing some of her belongings up in preparation for college, and as she was doing that, she noticed her dad was leaving different boxes in their house.

She questioned her dad about the boxes, and he informed her that they contained her stepsister’s belongings.

She didn’t have a problem with that, but she did have a problem with her dad mentioning that her stepsister would be taking over her own room instead of moving into the third-story room.

She wondered why her dad had never spoken to her about this, and he claimed that the house belonged to him and she was no longer going to be living there, so that was his reasoning behind not filling her in on this.

“So I reminded him that I was, in fact, co-owner of the house, that I’d still be coming back, and that this room is my cat’s safe haven, who would have to stay here since I can’t have her at the dorms, and I didn’t want to disrupt her even more than she already would be with a dog in the house (she doesn’t like dogs),” she said.

“My dad scoffed and said if I wanted to pull that card, I should have been paying bills, and I completely blew up.”

“I told him that while I didn’t pay bills, I cleaned, cooked, and did laundry on my own for five years while working a 60h week for school so I could get a full-ride scholarship (which I did).”

Her dad was quick to dismiss all of the effort and hard work she had put into their house, and he said everything she pointed out had no meaning.

The day after she had this argument with her dad, she purchased security cameras and put them inside her room.

She let her dad know what she had done and said that if he wanted to move his stepsister into her room, she would know, and she would happily be evicting her and her Stepmom.

Although she can’t kick her dad out of the house, she can kick them out of the house.

“If my cameras are removed, they get evicted,” she continued. “If they do not comply, they get evicted.”

Her dad was completely irate with her and called her a not-so-nice name. She then chose to call her stepmom and speak to her about everything, and her stepmom was so understanding of her feelings, as was her stepsister.

She then found out that her stepmom and stepsister had no idea that all of this was going on between her and her dad.

She felt better hearing from her stepsister, who had wanted to live on the third floor instead of in her room.

Her stepmom promised to sit down with her dad and discuss the room situation prior to even moving in.

“She said that in the event that the move happens, they’ll make sure my cat is well taken care of and my room left undisturbed,” she added.

“I kind of feel guilty for assuming they knew already, but I feel much better now knowing that they’re on my side.”
