The Deadpool 2 Trailer is a 4-Minute Joke About How Far Away the Release Date Is

In a Norm Macdonald-esque move, the first we’re seeing of the upcoming Deadpool 2 is a rambling visual setup for a punchline about March 2, 2018 being a long time from now. It also includes a good minute of butt, a payphone booth, and Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. So, we’re off to a good start.

The Trailer is currently being shown in theaters before Logan, but it’s made its way around the internet since opening weekend. Ryan Reynolds is back as Deadpool, but in the trailer, he finds himself woefully unprepared to prevent an alleyway mugging. We then see the gritty reality of superheroes using a phone booth to change into uniform — it’s not as easy as Superman makes it look.

So, like we said, there’s a ton of butt (pressed up against door of said phone booth), the mugging is not thwarted, and Deadpool then loots a pint of Cherry Garcia from the deceased, or soon to be deceased, or whatever. The payoff? The end titles, which tell us that Deadpool is coming not soon enough. On that, we, Deadpool, and the probably dead guy can all agree.
