It’s finally happening. Soon, water jet Toilets won’t just be those things they have in Japan. Toto, perhaps the best known maker of teched-out toilets, has been increasing their reach in the United States with showrooms in Los Angeles and Chicago, and sales have slowly increased since then. But, if you believe that nothing takes off until it takes off in New York, take note — Toto has arrived in the Flatiron District, and they’ve got Heated Seats in all the right places.

If you’re unfamiliar with Toto toilets, you’re in for a treat. Across their range, they have toilets with water jets for after-movement cleaning, Heated seats, hot air blowers to warm tile floors, heated seats, ambient noise to hide the sounds of business, heated seats, deodorizing sprays, heated seats, and AM/FM radios with speakers. Did we mention heated seats? They also use less water to flush, which is pretty great considering how many places are in a drought right now.

They’re awesome, but they haven’t taken off in the United States, probably because of the whole water jet cleaning system. In fairness, it takes some getting used to. More than anything, it’s probably a trust issue — it’s hard to let yourself believe that your rear has been properly cleaned without, uh, proof. But, faith is rewarded with a ton of money saved on toilet paper, and also never having to be struck with the dread of being out of toilet paper. Those seem like pretty good rewards.

If you’re in New York and want to experience the latest in toilet tech for yourself, you can find the Toto showroom at 20 West 22nd Street. They’ve got 50 of their products on display, many of which have heated seats. Regardless of how you feel about the water jets, a heated toilet seat is an incredible thing to have in winter. The only danger is never leaving the bathroom, because things get comfy in a hurry.  We really can’t overstate the value.
