HOME INSPECTIONS AND RADON TESTS BY ChatGPT

OpenAI is an AI (artificial intelligence) “research and deployment company”. Their mission is “to Ensure that artificial general intelligence benefits all of humanity.” For free, you can use their ChatGPT model which is a problem for teachers and a boon for lazy students. Check out what it produced in less than a minute when I typed “what do home inspectors look for during an inspection?”

Home inspectors typically check for a wide range of issues when conducting an inspection. Some of the most common things they check for include:
Structural integrity: Inspectors will check the foundation, framing, and overall stability of the home to ensure that it is safe and structurally sound.

Roofing: Inspectors will check the condition of the roof, including the shingles, flashing, and gutters, to ensure that they are in good condition and not likely to leak.

Plumbing: Inspectors will check the condition of the home’s plumbing system, including the water supply and drainage, to ensure that there are no leaks or other problems.

Electrical: Inspectors will check the electrical system, including the wiring, circuits, and panel, to ensure that it is safe and up to code.

Heating and cooling systems: Inspectors will check the condition of the home’s heating and cooling systems, including the furnace, air conditioner, and ductwork, to ensure that they are in good working condition.

Insulation and ventilation: Inspectors will check for proper insulation and ventilation in the attic and walls to ensure that the home is energy efficient.

Interior and exterior: Inspectors will check the condition of the home’s interior and exterior, including the walls, ceilings, floors, windows, and doors, to ensure that they are in good condition and free of damage.

Safety features: Inspectors will check for the presence of smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, and other safety features.

It’s important to note that home inspections are not a guarantee that there are no issues with the home, but they can give you a good idea of the condition of the property and any potential problem areas that need to be addressed.

Next, I tried “Should I have a Radon test before buying a home in Minnesota?”.

Radon is a naturally occurring gas that can be found in homes throughout the United States, including in Minnesota. It can be a health hazard as it can cause lung cancer if inhaled over a long period of time.

If you’re buying a home in Minnesota, it’s a good idea to have a radon test done before purchasing the property. Radon levels can vary widely from home to home, even in the same neighborhood, so it’s important to know the level in the specific home you’re considering.

Minnesota has a high radon potential and the Minnesota Department of Health recommends that all homes in the state be tested for radon, especially for homes in certain areas of the state. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends that homes with radon levels of 4 picocuries per liter (pCi/L) or higher should be mitigated.

If a radon test does reveal high levels of radon in the home, it can typically be mitigated through a variety of techniques, such as sealing cracks in the foundation and installing a vent pipe and fan to remove the radon from the home.

It’s important to note that radon testing is relatively inexpensive and easy to do, and it can provide peace of mind knowing that the home you’re buying is safe for you and your family.

Mind blowing stuff as both results were produced in less time than it would have taken me to type both. And there is a new version of the model that will be out soon that is supposed to be an even bigger leap forward. They apparently have or are close to releasing a digital watermark that will show that the text was produced b AI.
