Do I need to SORN my car?
If you wish to take your Vehicle off the road, you’ll need to inform the DVLA with a Statutory Off Road Notification (SORN). You may wish to Sorn your vehicle if its unused, uninsured, if you want to salvage parts, or if you wish to get a refund on any full month’s road tax remaining. A SORN vehicle can’t be parked on a public road, so bare this in mind before updating the DVLA.
Getting Rid of Your SORN Car
If you have a SORN vehicle that is rusting away or is obstructing your driveway, you can donate it with Giveacar. The money raised from your vehicle can be donated to any UK Registered charity, giving your unwanted vehicle a new lease of life as it helps others.

Declare my Vehicle as SORN
To register your vehicle as SORN, please visit https://www.gov.uk/make-a-sorn. You will need your 16-digit reference number that appears on your V11 reminder. You’ll also need to double check your name and address is correct on your V5C as it will be used to refund any payments once you declare your vehicle as SORN.
