Eitex is proud to have secured a brand new IT Support contract with Yorkshire firm, Elm Building Services. Based in Leeds, Elm provides Mechanical and Electrical works for construction projects. Their clients are both here in the UK and across Europe.

Not only do they design and build M&E solutions, they offer project management services, delivery and reporting. They also take care of commissioning and certification, as well as operating and maintenance aftercare.

Elm Building Services provided the expertise behind prestigious locations such as the Bicester Hotel Golf and Spa, and The Luxe Restaurant in London. As well as hotels, restaurants and the leisure sector, Elm has also worked with education and automotive sector customers

Updated Email and Virus Protection

As part of the IT Support contract, one of the first tasks for Eitex will be migrating Elm’s email to Office 365. Email with Office 365 protects against malware in real time. You can also create policies to prevent accidental access to malicious websites or attached content. With Threat Intelligence, Office 365 allows users to enable alerts and put into place security solutions.

We will also install Sophos Antivirus software to keep their PCs protected. At the same time, we will upgrade Elm’s entire IT infrastructure to Windows 10 Pro.

With the faster, more efficient workflow that stems from a coherent IT infrastructure comes an equal need for secure backup.

Elm Business Services will have the robust backup security of Microsoft Azure. Microsoft has paired regions for backup data centres. These allow for nimble switching to a replicated data set should anything happen in one location.

GDPR Compliance with Microsoft

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) replaces the EU Data Protection Directive from 1995. Since companies must be able to show compliance by 25 May 2018, the deadline is fast approaching. The GDPR regulates how companies deal with personal data. It applies to almost every company that holds personal data on EU residents.

Microsoft designs and develops products that help businesses meet the new, stricter regulations. Elm Building Services can rest assured their new IT system is engineered for GDPR compliance:

Azure, for instance, ensures data is identifiable and secure. As well as classifying and labelling data, you can control encryption keys. This applies to both new and existing data.
