First Club 5 Business Networking Meeting a Roaring Success

This morning saw the very first meeting of the new Club 5 business networking group in support of The Prince of Wales Hospice. Held at the Hospice, around 30 local business representatives attended, which was a great turnout for our first meeting.

So what is Club 5?

The name Club 5 represents the close community within our five local towns, and exists to offer a pathway for local business owners to get to know each other while supporting and promoting the valuable work done by the hospice. Through mutual connections we can raise awareness and help each other towards greater achievements. And through those we can improve services throughout the community making a win/win situation for everyone.

Importance of The Prince of Wales Hospice

Considering it was so early in the morning and it was snowing, everyone was wide awake and raring to go. Maybe it was down to the brilliant breakfast provided by The Hospice (many thanks), and maybe the excellent conversations over open networking while we ate had something to do with it.

Fortified by breakfast, we learned more about Club 5 and some of the benefits of joining from Paula Hale, the Partnerships Assistant. We were then given an update on work at the hospice. This vital service offers so much comfort to those with life-limiting conditions and their carers, so everyone present was keen to hear the news. Matt Dale, Director at The G3 Group gave a passionate talk about his work and support of the Hospice after caring for his late Father.

All Industry Sectors are getting involved

Dean Spencer, managing director at Eitex, gave the first Club 5 presentation, introducing Eitex, what we do and who we work with, as well as outlining why we chose to join the group. Eitex are proud to have been the first Club 5 members, and it’s wonderful to see how the group has flourished over the last few months since its birth. The Club already supports the hospice by funding 17 days of vital care.

The meeting gave a great opportunity for local businesses from Pontefract, Castleford, Wakefield and surrounding areas to network together and welcomes new members.

Following the presentations, the hospice invited us to take a tour. It was an eye-opening experience for many of us since, after all, a hospice is not generally open to anyone who fancies a look round. We were reminded yet again how important it is that people are properly cared for, and were uplifted by the atmosphere of calm that surrounded us.

The next meeting will be held at Eitex offices in Glasshoughton on the 7th June 2018.
