Blogging For Business, and Why its A Good Idea!

In today’s digital world Blogging has become, and continues to be, an important component of content marketing.

When blogging first began it resembled online journaling, often in the form of video blogs known as a Vlog. While Vlogs are still popular among the younger crowd, the main concept of blogging changed drastically when marketers and businesses discovered the potential it had as a marketing tool for Business. It then shifted to become a very popular platform for business owners to share valuable information, teach, and have a conversation with a specific audience … based on the type of information shared.

With WordPress, your blog is a build-in component of your website, which is where you want people to land and continue to return to regularly. It’s your home base! What better way to get them to return to your website time and time again, by offering valuable information and content that interests them?

Blogging provides a platform for you, as a business owner, to share your expertise in a specific area, provide valuable information and content about topics that interest your ideal client and target market, promote your services or products, case studies, you name it. You can even use it as a sounding board to rant about current events, business happenings, or why you feel something needs to change.

3 Reasons Blogging Makes Sense

  1. Teach and Share and Knowledge and Expertise. Have a strong desire to teach others? Blogging is an excellent platform for sharing content. Search engines respond well to show blog posts as the answer others are searching for. Posts can be categorized by topics, so your readers can click on a category of interest and read post after post about key topics they want to learn more about. By sharing your knowledge on a regular basis on your blog, this allows you to highlight your experience and skills in your field (or fields) of expertise. The more you blog about specific topics, the more you position yourself as an expert on these topics and become a thought leader.
  2. Support a Cause and Make a Difference. Depending on your business and the things you care about, blogging gives you an opportunity to amplify your voice, and bring more attention to a cause near and dear to your heart, or something you would like to see change – whether it’s something you believe in personally or regarding business practices. As more people read your blog and connect with your message … support builds and grows.
  3. As a revenue stream. Professional bloggers have learned to monetize their writings and strengthen their marketing. An excellent example of someone who has done just that, is Ryan Biddulph. Coaches and professional speakers often use their blogs to demonstrate what audiences can anticipate when hiring them. Blog posts can be sample-size servings of a mini coaching session or a keynote topic, as well as a platform to promote their podcasts. The sky is the limit!

Blogging has grown and changed over the many years it’s been around. Today’s blogs now span a variety of interests and industries, and continue to evolve as more and more people learn about blogging and the many benefits to their business.

Speaking of benefits, watch for my upcoming post outlining all the benefits of blogging. You may discover many of these benefits are impossible to ignore.
