Facebook and Instagram Have Done it Again!

Fat fingers unite! Facebook and Instagram have done it again. A good thing too!

If you’re on my newsletter list, this will look a bit familiar. But I thought it’s good enough stuff for me to post here on  my blog – so I have.

Are you one of those who include Instagram in your social media strategy, but have fat fingers and prefer to do all of your scheduling for everything on your desktop? I sure am.

Posting to Instagram from your Facebook business page is now a reality!! Check it out!Click to Tweet

Instagram has notoriously been the one platform that has avoided the ability for users to post from their desktops, without the use of a 3rd party app. I’ve used Hootsuite for a while to post to Instagram (among other things), but it’s still a pain in the you know what sometimes, and I would love to be able to post directly to Instagram using my desktop.

Well now ya can! What??? Yep, you can. Ever since Facebook bought Instagram, we’ve seen some changes … good ones I might add. One of the newest changes to hit the Social Media world is that now you can post directly to Instagram from your Facebook page, using the Creator Studio. This new feature also allows you to view IG analytics, comments, likes, and post to IGTV.

In a nutshell, it’s super easy …
1) go to your Facebook page and click on Publishing Tools

2) on the left, go down to Tools, and click on Creator Studio. Once you do, it will open and a prompt will ask you if you’d like to connect your Instagram account. You do!

3) Once you’ve connected, Creator Studio will open and you’ll be in that magic land where you can post to Instagram on your desktop. On the top in the blue bar you’ll see little logos for both Facebook and Instagram. click on the one you want to post to, and voila!

When you’e in the Facebook view, the option to post will be on top, Insights will be on your right, with your content library below. Notice the part that says “Instagram and IGTV publishing now available.” That little section scrolls through 3 options to walk you through things like connecting Instagram, uploading a video, and publishing/scheduling a post. Yes … I said schedule posts!

In Instagram view, things are a little different. The option to create a post will be in the top left corner, and a link to your insights on the left.

That’s not all. One other very cool thing I learned about is the option to post to IGTV directly from Instagram on your desktop! Simply go to Instagram on your desktop. Click on IGTV (right above your posts and to the right of “posts.”) Voila … you’ll have the option to upload a video from your desktop and post directly to Instagram, AND Facebook if you so choose. After you click on upload, you’ll see the option to post to both Instagram and Facebook on the next screen.

So there you have it. From one fat-fingered gal who prefers to post to social media on her desktop to all of you. I encourage you to try it out … and when you do, let me know so I can check out your posts and find out how you like it!

Happy Instagramming!
