Whoa Nelly … this is pretty exciting. At least it is for those of us who use online scheduling platforms to Schedule our social media.

It’s super easy to schedule posts for Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and Twitter. But up until now, Instagram has been a hold out when it comes to the ability to schedule images to post automatically to the platform. Instagram has held off on allowing the use of their API to automatically schedule; instead, requiring users to use a phone app that sends a notification to their mobile device, letting the user know the post is ready. Then the user “approves” the post and is taken to Instagram to complete the process. A pain in the fanny? Sometimes. But simple enough, and worth the effort not to have to post manually.

But times have changed! Instagram just announced they are rolling out the ability to schedule and post photos and images directly to your Instagram business profile, without the use of an app. And yes I said “Business” profile, so if you haven’t converted from a personal account to a business account yet, you’ll need to do that if you want to take advantage of automatic posting.

Hootsuite is the first to jump on the Bandwagon, and automatic posting is available now! Others will be sure to follow or risk being left behind. I’m hoping CoSchedule is right behind them.
