Workshop-ing Entrepreneurial Behavior

I get contacted by leaders who due to budgetary constraints want to get as far down the path of “do it yourself” as possible.

I’m a big fan of that. It’s Entrepreneurial thinking!

If you’d like to get the conversation going within your team, here’s a quick game plan on how to do that.

  1. Start by watching my TEDx talk in Naperville on corporate culture toward entrepreneurship. At the end of the 18 minute talk have some open dialogue about your company and where it stacks up compared to the rest. Prepare a short survey for your team with questions that will help you better understand how they perceive you and the company when it comes to providing freedom to be entrepreneurial.
  2. After some discussion and survey time, workshop some ways (or upcoming projects) where the group can test being a bit more entrepreneurial.
  3. Set a meeting for 2 weeks out to watch the next talk.
  4. At meeting #2 watch my TEDx talk in Bend, OR on the 4 Entrepreneurial DNAs. Before the talk starts, have each person take the BOSI Assessment at bosiDNA.com. At the end of the talk, have each person share their primary DNA and which of the traits I described in the talk as most relevant to them. Have the group split up by DNA group and discuss where they bring the most value to a team setting and where they need the most help from other team-mates of different DNA.
  5. If you really want to get things going, take one group of like-DNA team mates and another group of mixed DNA team mates and give them a business objective. After the objective is complete, have discussion about what worked, what didn’t work and what gaps each group experienced in the process.

This is just a scratch on the surface of what is possible, but my goal is to just get you going so you can innovate from there. If you’d like some guidance along the way, don’t hesitate to reach out.
