A NOTE FROM BOB Important industry news: Invesco ETF CEO Dan Draper has left to become the new CEO of S&P Global Indexes. Dan is one of the great leaders of the ETF world and a friend for many years. Wish him well in his new role, which involves supervising the Dow and S&P 500. Big job! Actively managed ETFs launching. After much delay, American Century became the first fund to launch active non-transparent (ANT) ETFs with the launch of American Century Focused Dynamic Growth (FDG) and American Century Focused Large Cap Value (FLV). Unlike most ETFs, these ANTs do not reveal holdings on a daily basis. Is this the last stand for active managers? Will a large portion of actively managed mutual funds now migrate to an ETF structure? Recent dislocations in the bond market: For a good summary of the recent shifts in the bond market (which has been improving), check out this story in WSJ. It's happening again ... big buying in oil and oil stocks as investors again hope $20 is some kind of bottom. WSJ: "The way that oil bear markets resolve themselves is that those with the weakest hands, producers that can't cover their production costs, such as Canadian oil sands producers" fold first. Congrats to my friend Reggie Browne for winning the etf.com Lifetime Achievement Award—well deserved! ESG ETFs really stand out — iShares ESG MSCI USA Leaders ETF (SUSL) a multiple winner of awards.
