Athenian Trireme Andreia circa 450 BC

This project entailed designing and constructing an ancient Greek Trireme at a length of 48", which translated to about a scale of 1:32.

The model was, as always, designed in CAD, using what ever information is/was available and filling in some of the missing data with 'frog-DNA'.

Details, such as the ship's eye shown below, have been created as accurately as possible to the sparse archaeological information available.

The model has been constructed from all cherry and is at stage to be painted.

As you can see in the above image, she may or may not have some hoplites on board to give the model a sense of scale. As clearly shown, her many oars have not been installed yet.
