I recently wrote an Article titled Working From Home which briefly discussed running an online business. After writing the article, I felt the need to expand on this topic. So, I hope anyone who reads finds this information useful.

In the last article, I briefly talked about making Money online and had mentioned a few important factors that come into play when shooting for online success. I’m sure many of you have thought about how nice it would be to make money from home, but have dismissed the idea because of doubt or the belief that it costs too much to get started. If you’ve ever thought this way, pay close attention to the information I’m about to give you. You don’t need a ton of money to get started. In fact all you really need is a  computer, the internet, willingness to learn, and patience. You might be thinking to yourself right now, “What about the thousands of dollars associated with designing a custom website?” Why spend thousands for a custom static website when you can make good money by setting up your own blog for FREE? Not to mention you’ll probably get more traffic. You see, bloggs are more popular and respected than static websites because they tend to have better content and are updated more frequently. Therefore, bloggs are easier to get attention to, and attention(traffic) is what you want when running a successful online business. It doesn’t matter how amazing a product is if the consumer in need doesn’t know where to find it. You must get your product(s) out there to make sales, and blogging has got to be one of the best ways to accomplish this. Of course, you must write articles related to what product(s) you are promoting. For e.g., if you were writing articles about home repair, the majority of your visitors probably wouldn’t be interested in buying  designer watches. So, it’s a good idea to focus on products that are related to your topic; this is known as choosing your niche market.

Picking a niche market is absolutely crucial to online success and can often times be time consuming and difficult. The key is to pick several topics of interest that are also of interest to others, and then create specific sub-categories of each topic. Once you have your list, narrow it down to favorite. The idea is to pick something you will enjoy writing about. Make sure your articles provide valuable content, flow well, and keep interest. Be patient! It can take up to three months of writing articles several times a week before your blog attracts a Decent Amount of traffic. If you still don’t have a decent amount of traffic after three months, I would urge you to change your topic to something more popular with the general public. Attract an audience and keep them coming back, because the next step is where money comes into the picture.

OK, so you’ve created your blog site, picked a niche, and written a few articles. Now it is time to make money by selecting which products to sell, and once again I’m sure you’re concerned about cost. So be at ease when I say, “You don’t need money for products!” Google and Amazon both have their own affiliate programs where you can promote thousands of products and get paid a comission when someone buys from your site. Google has Google AdSense, and Amazon has Amazon Associates. The way it works is you sign up for a free account and then choose a product and/or products to promote on your site. When you choose, you are given your affiliate link(s) that you then place into your blog page. When someone buys, the money goes into your account and is paid out in check or direct deposit. Sounds pretty cool, huh! The only downside to affiliate marketing is it doesn’t pay out as much as selling your own products, but it is a good start. One really cool thing about blogging is once you have written several good articles, you can organize them into an e-book which you can sell as a download. Trust me, teaching materials are always in demand.
