  • First, you need to open the folder where the company file is stored.
  • After that, locate the file with QBW extension.  
  • After that, you need to select the Copy option by right-clicking on it.  
  • The next step involves clicking the Paste option and then pressing the Ctrl key to open the QuickBooks application. 
  • After that, you will see Company not open.
  • For the next step, you need to click  Open or restore an existing company. 
  • Finally, run the company file and check if the error still exists or not.
  • Solution 2: End the processes and set QuickBooks to single-user mode 

    Another solution is to close the processes and then set  QuickBooks Desktop to single-user mode. The steps in this procedure are as follows. 

    • First, use administrator credentials and log in to your computer. 
    • Now press the Ctrl Shift Esc keys and launch the task.
  • Select the Users option. 
  • Highlight all QuickBooks-related processes like qbupdate.exe, EXE, and QBDBM.exe.
  • After selecting each process, click  End task in multitasking mode.

  • Solution 3: Get help from QuickBooks Database Server Manager 

    There may be a situation where the above troubleshooting steps do not resolve error code 6010. If so, you need to use  QuickBooks Database Server Management. This utility resolves the extent of the error. Follow the easy next step  below:

  • First, you need to download QuickBooks Tools Hub and save it in the appropriate folder on your computer. 
  • You should then find the downloaded file called QuickBooksToolsHub.exe and double-click it to start the installation process. 
  • Next,  click  Allow this program to make changes to your computer. 
  • Now click  Next to install this tool on your system. 
  • Follow the previous step by touching the Next tab  Accept the license agreement and click  Install. 

Note: It takes a few seconds to install it on your computer system. When the procedure is finished, you must click Finish to complete the installation.

  • Once  QuickBooks Tools Hub is successfully installed on your computer system, launch it by tapping on its desktop. 
  • Now go to Network Issues in the Tool Center and click Manage QuickBooks Database Server to open QuickBooks Database Server Management.
  • Scan the Company file location and then click on the Scan Folders tab.
  • Next, browse and choose the Folder and files that store your company file (.QBW)
  • Hit on OK and then click on the Start Scan option.
  • After all the steps are completed successfully, you can now log in to your company files.
  • Solution 4. Rename the extension. ND 

    You should rename the extension to.ND, which can be a great solution to this error. For this, the following steps must be followed. 

    • Now you need to open the company file.ND extension. 
    • Also, make sure you are using the company where the error code is occurring. 
    • Right-click the file once you’ve found it. Select Rename from the right-click drop-down menu. 
    • When renaming, you must add “Old” as the extension (for example, My company.qbw.ND.old).
  • Now open the QuickBooks table and check if the QuickBooks error code 6010 has appeared.
  • Solution 5. Multi-user access hosting should be terminated 

    If you are still stuck by  QuickBooks error code 6010,  it is recommended that you stop hosting multi-user access. Here are the next steps to follow. Make sure you do these steps in the same order. 

    • First, open the QuickBooks software and select  File. 
    • Now you need to go to Utilities and then select Stop Multi-User Access Hosting. After this step, you should restart QuickBooks. 
  • After completing the previous step, click the Program Settings button and disable the Internet Monitor feature. 
  • If you have ESET NOD32 antivirus on your computer, you must rename the file by adding “.Old” to the extension.
  • When you’re done, restart QuickBooks.
