The digital commerce landscape is evolving, and Sap Commerce is at the forefront of this transformation. The SAP Commerce on-premise platform is reaching the End of Mainstream Maintenance (EoMM) on July 31, 2026.

What’s EoMM, and What Does it Mean for You?

End of Mainstream Maintenance (EoMM) refers to the end of the period when a software product or component receives regular updates, patches, and support from the vendor. After EoMM, the software may still be usable, but it may not receive any new features, enhancements, proper support, bug fixes, or security updates.

In the case of SAP Commerce, the End of Mainstream Maintenance means that the SAP Commerce on-premise version 2205 will no longer receive updates or new features. It will provide only customer-specific maintenance after the EoMM, which will occur on July 31, 2026. Continuing with an unsupported version can lead to security risks, compatibility issues, low or no technical support, and outdated technology. 

As per the official notification for SAP, the key limitations of continuing with the on-premise version would include:

  • No delivery of new support packages i.e. patch releases
  • No delivery of legal changes
  • No updates to third-party libraries
  • No updates to support changes in third-party dependencies
  • No updates to support newer versions of the Java virtual machine
  • No technological updates and no interface support updates
  • Customer-specific problem resolution for only known problems only
  • Possible fee to resolve new problems
  • No service-level agreements as part of SAP Enterprise Support
  • No remote support to evaluate the latest enhancement packages

On the other hand, SAP will continue to innovate and expand its capabilities in the cloud, and adopting cloud technology will keep you current and competitive in the modern market.
