Bournemouth Police Seek Public Assistance

An investigation is underway regarding a distraction burglary in Bournemouth, and authorities are requesting assistance from the public. Photos of one of the suspects have been made available.

On Tuesday 11 July 2023, around noon, two males arrived at a residence on Malvern Road, attempting to persuade the resident, an elderly woman, that her home required repairs.

Despite the woman’s efforts to disengage and close the door, one of the individuals forcibly entered the house.

Once they were inside, the men claimed they needed to look for a misplaced leaflet in the garden. They also expressed a desire to go upstairs to take a look outside during their ostensible search.

It’s suspected that at some point while they were inside the residence, the men made off with a safe. Inside the safe were documents, keys, and cash.

Police Constable Andrew Kelly of the Bournemouth Police force stated, “As part of my investigation, I am now in a position to issue images of one of the suspects. I am hoping that somebody may recognize this man and can assist with my enquiries.”

People with information that could aid the investigation are urged to get in touch with Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk or by phoning 101, using occurrence number 55230107890. Those wishing to provide information anonymously may contact the independent charity Crimestoppers online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by dialing Freephone 0800 555 111.
