Tokyo Disney Resort has recently introduced a new line of merchandise made from recycled staff costumes, including tote bags and T-shirts. This initiative, called the "Circulating Smiles" series, aims to create valuable products from recyclable items collected within the resort's parks. It is the first time the resort has directly utilized these materials to produce goods.
For instance, the slacks worn by the resort's "cast members" at the Disney Sea gift shop, Nautilus Gifts, have been transformed into shoulder bags while preserving their original pockets. Additionally, the jackets worn by the staff were repurposed into tote bags, incorporating the original buttons from the clothing into the bag's design.
Another example of this innovative approach is the use of fabric from the uniforms of cast members at the China Voyager restaurant in Disneyland. This fabric has been transformed into Mickey Mouse decorations, which adorn both T-shirts and canvas tote bags. Each ornament features a unique pattern, adding an individual touch to these items.
The T-shirts are priced at 15,000 yen ($103.83), while the canvas tote bags are available for 18,000 yen ($124.59), with taxes included. These eco-friendly products can be purchased at various souvenir shops located within the Tokyo Disney Resort parks.By repurposing staff costumes that are no longer needed due to design changes and other reasons, Tokyo Disney Resort is not only reducing waste but also creating unique and environmentally friendly merchandise that allows visitors to take home a piece of the magic.
