Sachin had a prolific 1997 in which he notched up 4 Test tons, in Cape Town, Colombo, and Mumbai. He then smashed 2 centuries against Australia and one against New Zealand in the following season.

Sachin Tendulkar’s centuries did not take a halt here after so many knocks. 1999 saw the might of Sachin, he smashed 5 centuries in the calendar year and also brought up his first double-hundred, 217 runs against New Zealand in Ahmedabad. In 2000, Zimbabwe toured India for a Test series, and Indian batsmen had a golden chance to better their averages by playing an easier opponent. India scored many runs in the series, Rahul Dravid and Sachin both made double tons.

Sachin continued his great form in the early 2000s. Sachin added 7 more test centuries to his name in 2001 and 2002 combined.

Sachin’s best knock:

2003 was a year for Sachin in Test cricket where he could not get a test 100. However, the reply of the legend was on the money. Sachin came back with a bang, when the series was at stake, Sachin smashed 241 in the decider at Sydney Cricket Ground. He did not hit a single cover drive in his innings of 241 till he crossed 200. The innings included 33 boundaries and took the Indian team’s total to 705 runs. The match ended in a draw and drew the series 1-1.

He followed it up with a 194* innings against Pakistan and a 248* against Bangladesh.

2005-06 were a bit cold for Sachin in Test cricket with only one century. But what to say about 2010, Sachin won the cricketer of the year award. At 37, in the latter half of his career, Sachin showed his prime form. He added 7 centuries in 2010 alone, which also included 2 double centuries.

2011 saw Sachin’s last Test hundred. He racked up 146 runs in the new year’s Test against South Africa, it turned out to be a crucial inning and India drew the Test.

Sachin made his ODI debut in 1989 in Pakistan. He played a total of 463 ODIs most by any individual player ever. Sachin opened in ODIs and batted long till the death overs and gave the innings much-needed stability. Out of his 49 ODI centuries, 33 came in a winning cause. Sachin Tendulkar’s ODI century against England in the 2011 World Cup was his best ton.

Sachin notched up his first ODI century in 1994 against Australia. Later the same year Sachin scored 2 more centuries against New Zealand and the West Indies. In the 1996 World Cup, Sachin was the leading run-scorer, and he put together 2 centuries.

Sachin was in sublime form in ODIs in 1998, assembling another 9 ODI tons to his name including 4 against Australia. The 2003 World Cup could also be named Sachin’s world cup, to be honest. He was the man of the series and the leading run-scorer of the tournament. He made a hundred(152) against Namibia and 6 fifties in the 2003 WC. Between 2004-08 Sachin made 6 ODI centuries a lean patch according to God’s standards.

Sachin then developed the habit of scoring the highest scores in one day. He fabricated a 163* followed by a 175 against Australia and then, eventually, it was the first 200 in ODI cricket(200*) in 2010 against South Africa.

Sachin had a good World Cup in 2011 and India won the World Cup after 28 years. Sachin received huge praise and chants from Sachin! Sachin! Rocked the Wankhede was rocked on the night of the finals.

India player Virat Kohli said, “Tendulkar has carried the burden of the nation for 21 years.” It is time we carried him on our shoulders. ” And India players Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina, along with a few other players, took a victory lap carrying Sachin on their shoulders.
