Destiny 2 Festival Of The Lost 2023: Dates, Rewards, And What’s New This Year

The spooky season has come to Destiny 2 once again, and like previous years, you’ll be able to dive into haunted attractions while residents of The Last City celebrate with candy, masks, and creepy decorations. It’s going to be a few weeks of Haunted Sectors filled with pumpkin-headed foes, dangerous amounts of candy, and unlocking an Exotic piece of gear that you’ve been wanting to add to your collection. The Halloween-themed event will be available for free to all Destiny 2 players, and completing it will help you get another step closer to earning the Reveler and event-specific Ghost Writer titles.

Here’s a breakdown of what you can expect from Festival of the Lost 2023.

Festival of the Lost 2023 start date

Festival of the Lost will kick off after the weekly Destiny 2 reset at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET on October 17. Bungie hasn’t revealed how long the event will run for, but if it’s the same as last year, it’ll run for three weeks and conclude on November 7.

How to start Festival of the Lost 2023

As usual, you’ll be dropping into the Tower social space and meeting with Eva Levante to pick up quests, bounties, and rewards. Eva will direct you to the Haunted Sectors, which are Lost Sectors with a Halloween theme. Once you’ve done the introductory quest, you can access a Haunted Sector playlist from your game director menu. The big difference this year is that Legend Haunted Sectors will debut, so make certain that you’ve got the right gear and abilities equipped so that you can battle the ghoulish Champions lurking within them.

Festival of the Lost 2023 armor sets

Not the best armor sets if you’re an arachnophobe.

The Destiny 2 fan community voted for “Creepy Crawlies” as this year’s armor sets, which are spider and beetle-themed gear. Or Kamen Rider-themed, if you’re into some Tokusatsu action.

Festival of the Lost 2023 weapons and memento

A stylish new ornament awaits.

No surprises here, as the Festival of the Lost weapons on offer are all old favorites that have appeared in the previous events. In case you missed them–or accidentally dismantled them–you can pick up the Acosmic grenade launcher, Horror Story auto rifle, Jurassic Green pulse rifle, and Mechabre sniper rifle. There’ll also be a new memento that drops this year, that gives your weapons a slick black and leathery finish.

How to earn Eerie Engrams

Grab those pumpkins and smash some monsters.

Like other vendors, Festival of the Lost will offer Eerie Engrams that can either be cashed in for instant rewards or saved up for more Exotic gear via Hocus-Focusing. You’ll be able to focus these engrams into specific Exotic armor, and as long as you have the expansion that they’re tied to, you can acquire specific gear from the list of available Exotic pieces. The best part is that you will not need to have acquired the Exotic armor previously for it to be eligible to drop from Hocus-Focusing.

Usually, you’d have to grind through Legend Lost Sectors whenever a certain Exotic armor class is available for 24 hours, but Festival of the Lost will offer a simpler way to get what you want. Players will only receive Exotic armor for the class that they are currently playing as when they focus their Eerie Engrams. These can be earned from Haunted Sectors during the event, and Legend Haunted Sectors will offer a higher chance to earn them. For the focusing costs, here’s what you can expect:

Exotic arms

  • 1 x Eerie Engram
  • 2,500 Candy

Exotic legs
